NHCP inaugurates Museo ni Rizal in Dapitan

DAPITAN CITY, June 22 (PIA) The National Historical Commission of the


Philippines (NHCP) led by its chairperson Dr. Maria Serena I. Diokno has
officiated the inauguration of modernized Museo ni Rizal on June 19, 2016 at
Rizal Shrine this city.

The said event marked the 155 th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, the
Philippine National Hero.

Muli nating buhayin ang diwa ni Rizal sa ating mga puso bilang ordinaryong
Pilipino na handang magbigay ng ating sarili, Education Secretary Armin A.
Luistro stressed in his speech as guest speaker during the said event.

(Let us all revived the spirit of Rizal in our hearts as ordinary Filipinos ready
to sacrifice ourselves.)

During an interview, Luistro emphasized that unlike the traditional ones, the
new museum of Rizal in Dapitan is interactive which, he thinks, would make
todays youth give more value to Philippine history especially during Rizals
time.

Inside the museum, guests will see various audio visual presentations, light-
and-sound tableaus, holograms and touch screen terminals highlighting
Rizals life and everyday activities when he was exiled in Dapitan.

Accordingly, Rizal aboard the steamer Cebu from Manila to Dapitan, arriving
at 7 p.m. on June 17, 1892 where he stayed until July 31, 1896. There, he
served the people and the society through his civic works, medical practices,
land development and promotion of education.

Among the attendees during the said event are Supreme Court Justice
Antonio Carpio, Government Chief Negotiator on the peace process Miriam
Coronel-Ferrer, NHCP Executive Director Ludovico D. Badoy, representatives
from Spanish embassy, Dapitan City Mayor Rosalina Jalosjos-Johnson and
the members of city council, members of the academe, Girls Scouts and Boy
Scouts of the Philippines and members of the media. (FPG/MAA/PIA9-
