ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed
during this field experience:
To act as as a professional inheritor, critic and interpretor of knowledge or culture when teaching students (Competency 1). I have taken the time to expand
my thinking about teaching, schools, place, purpose, role, and actions, by asking questions, observing teachers and teacher relationships, working with
small groups, partner teaching, and attending staff meetings. I have reflected after each day, writing down my thoughts and observations throughout the
school day.
To cooperate with members of the teaching team in carrying out tasks involving the development and evaluation of the competencies targeted in the
programs of study taking into account the students concerned (competency 10). I worked with my CT, and special education teachers as the students were
completing their Ministry Exams. We reviewed our individual evaluations, discussed the marks which were given and not given, and why. We also took the
time to pay close attention to students who were coded, or had an I.E.P. while we were grading. We would ask each other for another's opinion when we
were unsure about a response and generate an appropriate grade after coming to a consensus.
To engage in professional development individually and with others (Competency 11).
To demonstrate ethical and responsible behavior in the performance of his/her duties (Competency 12). I was constantly making sure that there was
equality and fairness within every task I performed. In addition, I would reflect upon my actions each day, ensuring that I was aware of my role in the class,
maintaining my image, and interacting professionally and ethically.

I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field
experience:
To communicate clearly in the language of instruction, both orally and in writing using correct grammar, in various contexts related to teaching
(Competency 2). Although my English communication skills are strong, my stage was in French for my Second Field Experience, and I would
like to continue to improve my skills in French speaking. They are adequate now, yet, I would like to acquire more vocabulary to diversify my
skills in French, to be able to express a variety of explanations to the students, to ensure understanding and learning.
To pilot teaching/learning situations that are appropriate to the the students concerned and to the subject content with a view of developing the
competencies targeted in the programs of study (Competency 4). I look forward to really getting to know my students in and out, in order to be
able to create lessons which will take all of their interests, learning styles, strengths and weaknesses into consideration when creating lessons
for the classroom, in order to grasp their intrigue and make sure they're getting the most out of their learning.
To plan, organize and supervise a class in such a way as to promote students' learning and social development (Competency 6). I need to
become more assertive and work on my teacher voice, I tend to be a bit shy, especially since I was walking into a classroom that already had
rules established, I didn't want to change or modify anything which was already set into place. With time, I will grasp the idea of making a
presence in the classroom and assuming my position as a professional educator, to ensure that respect and classroom order is maintained.

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:

I will take the time to reflect upon each day of teaching, and certainly every lesson taught. This way
I can note what is working, what needs to be changed, and brainstorm ideas of how to do so.
Before the school year begins, I will keep in mind various ideas for lesson plans, and begin
preparing them ahead of time, always taking into consideration the multiple intelligences and
various learning styles. I will pay close attention to each student, to make sure that I am aware of
their personalities, strengths, talents, and developing skills. I will collaborate with my CT and other
members of the teaching team to gain knowledge, and use their experiences as inspiration for my
own teaching. I will constantly remind myself to remain professional, open minded, and fair with all
my students, to be sure that they all feel comfortable, confident, and important in the classroom.
