Solve one- and two-step how many more and how many less problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets. Blooms Level of Critical Thinking: Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating Description of how to implement in the class: The students will conduct a survey with their classmates. The survey will be over which of the three sweets they prefer: cookies, candy, or cake. The students will create tallies for each student until they gather information from all of their classmates. The students will then use the information and data to create a bar graph using the NCES Create-A- Graph website. This will allow students to learn how to manipulate technology in order to create graphs and charts as well as give them an accurate representation of their collected data. The students will then compare with classmates to see if they gathered the same results. Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This technology implementation is a LoTi level 4. This is because the activity allows the students to use real-life, student-centered learning while creating a product to achieve an outcome of information about their peers. The activity also allows the students to collaborate and share their results with one another. Description of the sample spreadsheet and graph/chart provided *: For my sample activity, I will conduct a survey with my co-workers so that I can give the students an accurate depiction of my peers preference of cookies, candy, or cake. I will show them my results by having tallies on a piece of paper projected on the board. I will then create my graph while giving them step by step instructions on the projector so that they can do the same after they receive their results. The students will then see my finished product.
