Can understand sentences and commonly used expressions associated with
topics directly related to his/her direct circumstances (e.g. personal information

5.1 Step 1: On E-Application date candidates are requested to
register for the course using the online portal

5.2 For external candidates: Certificate of previous level of
examination is mandatory (which should not be more than six
months)
6. Course level assignment /Class size
6.1 For those who have prior knowledge of German or students with
a gap of more than six months from their last exam and desiring
to join the next higher level courses have to take a placement
test prior to registration. Placement in course levels is based on
the result of the placement test conducted by the Goethe-
Institut Chennai /Max Mueller Bhavan. This placement test will
be conducted on the last Thursday of every month between
16:00 to 17:00 hrs. Email registrations for the test should be
done two days before the test day. Fee for the placement test is
Rs. 1,400/-
6.2 Generally our courses have minimum 22 and at most 28
participants (5 to 8 seats are reserved for women candidates) for
the levels A1 to B1 and minimum 15 and at most 25 participants
for the levels B2 to C2. In case of insufficient enrollment on the
starting date, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone the
course. In this case, we will offer participants the opportunity
to move to another course or to receive a full refund of the
course fee.
6.3 Enrolment certificates can be issued after five class days for a
fee of Rs. 500/-
6.4 Participation certificates will only be issued to candidates
who have an attendance of more than 75% for the enrolled
course. If the participation certificates are not collected on
the last day of the course, the Institut is not responsible for
the certificates thereafter.
6.5 Internal students who do not take up the examination on the
prescribed date after the course completion, will be
considered as External Candidates for exam registration on
later dates.
7. Cancellations, refunds and change of batch
7.1 In case of cancellations a week prior to the start of the
course, the course fee shall be refunded less an
administrative fee of Rs. 4,000/- per level.
7.2 In case of cancellation made in the last five working days
before the course starts, only 50% of the total course fee shall
be refunded.
7.3 Cancellations must be submitted in writing with the original
ID card to the Language Department using the contact
addresses indicated in the registration card.
7.4 After the commencement of the course there is no possibility
for a refund or adjustment of fee, irrespective of whether you
have attended any class or not.
7.5 Should the Goethe-Institut Chennai /Max Mueller Bhavan
cancel a course, the full course fee shall be reimbursed.
7.6 Change of batch is not possible once the registration is
completed.
