clear arp-cache vs clear arp vs clear...

clear arp-cache vs clear arp vs clear ip arp ??? Aug 10, 2014 11:16 PM
I am utterly confused between the 3.

i assume that clear arp clears the entire arp cache.

clear ip arp clears only the INTERNET Protocol listings from the arp cache.

I am not sure about Clear arp-cache !!!!

I read somewhere that it send out gratituous ARP replies instantly and repopulates the arp cache !!! Is it
correct ???

Is it to refresh the arp cache or to clear the arp cache ?????? Some one please help !!!!

I cudnt find anything anywhere, so decided to post it here !!!

The clear arp-cache command can be entered multiple times to refresh

dynamically created entries from the ARP cache using different selection criteria.

Use this command without any arguments or keywords to refresh all ARP cache entries
for all enabled interfaces.
To refresh ARP cache entries for a specific interface, use this command with the
interface keyword and type and number arguments.

Yes, regarding clear ip arp

clear arp seems to do same as clear arp-cach,
