TheSchoolofHealthandRehabilitationSciences(SHRS)isaschoolinTheOhioStateUniversityCollegeofMedicine.SHRSisnationally
recognizedasaleaderinpracticebasedhealthcareeducation.Formorethanfivedecades,SHRShaspreparedstudentstoachieve
personalandprofessionalexcellence,astheypursueanexcitingcareerinhealthcare.

PROGRAMOVERVIEW
Radiationtherapyinvolvestreatingdiseasewithpenetratingbeamsofhighenergyradiation,primarilyinthetreatmentofcancer.
Therapistsareresponsibleforaccuratelyplanning,recording,interpretingandadministeringthetreatmentprescribedbyradiation
oncologists.Duringsimulation,therapistsuseCTscanstohelpphysiciansinlocalizingandoutlininganatomicalareasrequiring
treatment.Therapistsutilizelinearacceleratorstodeliveraprescribeddoseofradiationtothetumorvolumeduringtreatment.

ADMISSION&APPLICATIONPROCEDURES
Applicantsmustmeetthefollowingminimumrequirementsandsubmitrequestedmaterialstobeconsideredforadmission.
Theapplicationdeadlineforautumnsemester2014professionaladmissionsisJanuary31st,2014.

1. Anelectronicapplicationisavailableonlineathttp://www.professional.osu.edu/hrs.aspwhichshouldbecompletedandsubmitted
withallrequiredsupplementaldocuments,ifapplicable.
2. Aminimum2.5cumulativeGPAisrequiredinallcourseworktakenatallaccreditedinstitutions.Allpostsecondarycourseworkis
considered.Althougha2.5GPAistheminimum,theaverageGPAistypicallyhigherthana3.3
3. CompletionofprerequisitecoursesbytheendofSpringSemester2014priortoenrollmentintheprofessionalprogram.
4. EighthoursofdocumenteddirectpatientcontactinaDepartmentofRadiationOncology.Observationdocumentationformsand
instructionsareonlineintheFutureStudentstabunderAdmissionCriteria.www.medicine.osu.edu/hrs/rd
5. Apersonalinterviewmayberequestedbythedivision.Knowledgeoftheprofession&personalcareergoalswillbeevaluatedat
thistime.

DEGREEREQUIREMENTS:Aminimumtotalof120semestercredithours,includingallgeneralgraduationrequirements,program
prerequisitesandprofessionalcurriculumarerequiredforgraduatingintheradiationtherapyprogram.

StudentsmustcompletetheGeneralEducation(GE)curriculumbeforegraduatingfromtheUniversity..Someoftheserequirements
overlapwithprogramprerequisitesorprofessionalcurriculumcourses.Therequiredcourseworkislistedbelow.

ADMISSION&PROGRAMPREREQUISITES(70hours)
StudentswhoareapplyingtotheRadiationTherapyprogrammustbeintheprocessofcompletingatleast30semestercredithours
ofthefollowingadmissionandprogramprerequisitecoursesortheirequivalent.Alloftheadmissionandprogramprerequisites
mustbecompletedwithaCorhigherbytheendofspringsemesterpriortotheenrollmentintheprofessionalprogram.Students
whohavecompletedorareintheprocessofcompletingboththeadmissionandprogramprerequisitesandwishtoapplymusthave
completedatleast70credithours.Admissionprerequisitesshouldbetakenbeforeprogramprerequisites.Thegradesofthese
coursesplayaroleintherankingofpotentialapplicants.
