Dear Lauren:

It is with great pleasure that I submit this letter of support outlining your internship accomplishments as a
Graduate Program Assistant at University of Washington Bothell. At this point, you have completed 200+
hours of your internship. Your contributions to Career Services, and this inaugural work in advising and
developing content specific programming for our graduate students, have been invaluable. In particular:
meeting with the Graduate Program Advisors over the summer to customize services and programming to
student needs, attending new student orientations to introduce Graduate Career Services, development,
implementation and revamp of the Graduate Professional Workshop Series content and delivery, coordinating
Graduate & Professional Week, creating a marketing plan and materials, initiation of virtual programming and
services, advising graduate and undergraduate students pursuing graduate school, and dissemination of a
Graduate Student Survey. These efforts have provided a strong foundation for the student success support work
you will continue winter and spring.

Some of the greatest impact in the work you have completed has been in building and strengthening
relationships campus wide with our academic advising colleagues. Your collaboration on targeted outreach and
programming with the Schools of Nursing and Health Studies, Education, and Interdisciplinary Arts and
Sciences, in addition to incorporating best programming/activity practices introduced by our UWS colleague
Catherine Basl into your workshops, has created relevant and specific co-curricular content. This will inform
the Saturday Intensive 4 hour professional development workshop you are leading this February, combining the
best of your programming to date. You have also been mindful of bringing services to where students are,
championing and developing virtual resources and distance services through online workshops, chat and skype
offerings. While working exceptionally well autonomously, you and Ian have also developed a team dynamic
that capitalizes on both of your strengths. Through the adaptation and scaffolding of sustainable services, you
have demonstrated a strong understanding of student development.

Your commitment, dedication, enthusiasm and passion for student service are strong indicators of your promise
and future success in academic, career and student programming and advising. I have greatly appreciated your
willingness to apply lessons learned to better outreach and programming while being conscious of interweaving
concepts of diversity, equity and inclusion. We have discussed future professional development opportunities in
understanding law, policy, finance and governance through informational interviews with professionals in
Student Affairs and Academic Advising. Lauren, I truly believe that you have a yearning and talent for
developing potential in others. It is strikingly evident in the sincere, thoughtful and engaged way you
demonstrate support of student success.

Sincerely,

Kim Wilson
