forward to welcoming you and your group to campus. Outlined below are our
expectations for your visit. Please read through these carefully prior to your visit. At
the end of this document is your tour confirmation. Please print the tour
confirmation and present this to the Visitor Center staff on the day of your tour.

not hesitate to call us at 301-314-1970 or 301-314-1204.

Prior to your visit

Attached to your confirmation email are student contact forms. Please submit all
student contact information forms to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions prior
to the start of your tour. Information must be completed for each individual student
in your group. This can be submitted electronically via email to
grouptours@umd.edu. Failure to complete this information prior to your visit may
result in a delayed start to your tour.
Student Conduct
Visiting groups will be accompanied by adult chaperones/teachers/sponsors at all
times. We require one chaperone for every 15 students. The ultimate responsibility
for each group rests with these designated adults, not the University of Maryland.
Visiting students are expected to conduct themselves as respectful visitors to the
campus and not demonstrate disruptive behavior during any aspect of their campus
visit. Should such behavior occur, the University of Maryland admissions staff
and/or tour guides have the right to terminate the campus visit.
Late arrival and no-show policy
If your group will be late, please let us know as soon as possible by calling the Office
of Strategic Planning and Communications at 301-314-1204. Groups that arrive
more than 15 minutes late will receive an abbreviated tour. Due to our student tour
guides academic commitments, we may not be able to accommodate groups that
arrive more than 20 minutes late. However, we will provide self-guided walking
tour maps to assist your visit to campus.
Groups that do not provide any notification of a cancellation and do not show up for
their scheduled tour will have future requests reviewed which may result in
diminished visit opportunities for your group in the future.
Cancellation policy
Groups wishing to cancel a tour must do so at least 5 days in advance. Failure to
cancel 5 days prior to your tour may result in diminished opportunities for your
group to visit in the future.
Welcome to the University of
Maryland!
