We are a strong family of highly qualified faculty,
dedicated staff, laborious students, caring guardians
and well wishers alike! Thirty-eight batches of KEC
graduated engineers in Civil, Computer and Electronics
& Communication Engineering have been embarking
on their bright career in Nepal and elsewhere in the
world. Ample infrastructure, beautiful natural landscape
blended with lots of successes & glories of students,
faculty and staff - landmarks of our 18 years long
journey that has made Kantipur Engineering College a
truly premier engineering college in Nepal!

We continue empowering our students through

intensive professional training programs in addition to
the syllabus prescribed by IOE, TU. We have been
successful in leveraging our international linkages and
projects (FUSION, SmartLlnk, etc.) for the benefit of
students, teachers and staff. Such international
exposure has allowed us to better prepare our students

Introduction
Established in 1998 with the basic objective of
creating an excellent platform for the engineering
studies in Nepal, KEC stands out with well equipped
and state-of-the-art facilities at its own lush green
spacious complex at Dhapakh.el, Lalitpur and is
efficiently managed by professional faculty and staff.
The college is committed to meet every challenges for
providing exemplary education in several disciplines of
engineering. Presently, KEC is conducting BE
programs in Civil, Computer and Electronics &
Communication Engineering under the guidelines of
the Institute of Engineering OOE), Tribhuvan
University. The college is fully aware and committed
to the development of further engineering programs
in future. Programs for running B.E. in Electrical
Engineering and Bachelor in Architecture are in
pipeline.

Department of Engineering Science and Humanities is one
of the indispensable departments of KEC and plays a vital
role in teaching basic science courses as prescribed by the
curriculum of Tribhuvan University in engineering program.
This department offers subjects like Engineering
Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry,
Probability and Statistics, Numerical Method, Fundamental
of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, Workshop
Technology, Engineering Drawing I and II, and Professional
Communication. The department is backed by well
educated, talented & dedicated faculty members.
The teaching module comprises of lectures, tutorials and
practicals. The methodology adopted in the classroom
teaching is based on the application of innovative strategies,
comprehensive lectures, regular assignments and creative
interaction between teachers and students. The purpose of
including the subjects of Science and Humanities in
engineering study is to lay a well-built foundation of basic
concepts for various engineering disciplines. Therefore, the
department acts as a fertiliz.er to develop the practical
approach to explore the hidden talents, personality and
communication skills to fulfill the need of budding
technocrats.

Bachelor program in Computer Engineering
was started in KEC in the year 2000 with
an aim to make the students acquaint with
the latest development in lnfonnation
Technology and Computer Engineering.
This too is a four-year bachelor's degree
program. In this program, 55 subjects are
offered in eight semesters. Students in this
program pass through many lectures,
laboratory exercises and site visits.
Experienced and qualified faculties are
involved in this programme along with
special lectures by experts and reputed
scholars.

Bachelor program in Electronics &
Communication Engineering was
started in KEC in the year 2002.
This is a four year bachelor's
degree program. In the program,

Facilities
Site
KEC is situated at Dhapakhel, Lalitpur in an area of about 37
ropanies of land. It is at a distance of about 3 km from Satdobato,
Ring Road. The site is pleasing and peaceful to support and boost
an educational environment.

Academic Block
At present, KEC has two four--storied academic blocks. The total
combined floor area of these buildings is 4 7 ,000 sq. ft. These blocks
are dedicated to classrooms, departments, workshop, libraiy and
teachers' office.

Laboratory Block
The laboratory block is a four-storied building with the total floor
area of 20,000 sq. ft. The laboratory block consists of the following
laboratories:

Chemistry laboratory is situated in a separate building covering floor

area of about 2200 sq.ft.

Administration Block
The college has three-storied administration block occupying the
floor area of 4000 sq. ft. The block is occupied by different sections
which includes Principal's office, Vice-Principal's office, Account
Section, Examination Section and Administration.

Project &: Research Block

The college has a four-storied project and research block with an
area of 8,000 sq.ft. dedicated for project labs, Research, Training &
Consultancy Division (RTCD) and teachers' offices.

Ubrary
The college libraiy possesses sufficient books and reference
materials. It occupies a total area of 5000 sq. ft. The libraiy provides
a set of text-books to all students for the whole semester.

Canteen
Two canteens have been constructed to the east of the academic
building. The canteens can serve 120 students at a time.

Sports Court
A multi-sports court having an area of 6000 sq. ft. has been
constructed in the college premises for sports like basketball,
volleyball, badminton, etc.
 Discipline
Kantipur Engineering College is conunitted to maintaining
discipline of the students. Students enrolled have to abide by
the rules and regulations set by the college. The violation of
rules and regulations including negligence in attending
classes, disrespect towards teachers and staff, violation of
uniform code, usage of alcohol and drugs and other
activities which disturb the class and defame the image of
the college may be sufficient reason to disqualify the
students from entering the college. If such acts of
transgression occur repeatedly, the college management will
be forced to 1ake stringent actions against the students and
Research, Training &
Consultancy Division
Research, Training and Consultancy Division (RTCD) seeks
to develop research knowledge, skills and attitude in the
students and faculty members alike. In order to achieve this
objective, the division works closely with both national and
international universities, government agencies, NGOs,
INGOs and consultancies to provide customized training
solutions to students , faculty members and research
scholars in areas of engineering and IT.
RTCD undertakes:

- Exploring and identifying partnering institutions both
national and international to work jointly for research.
some of these steps may include withdrawing of the
scholarship offered, prohibition from appearing in
examination or even expulsion from the college. If any
property of the college is damaged due to negligence or ill-
intention of the students, the students concerned will be
held responsible and be duly fined or dealt with such other
reasonable punishment. Attendance of the students is the
basic criterion for the eligibility to appear in the final
examination. The students failing to have at least 75%
attendance will not be allowed to appear in the final
examination.

KEC has forged a tradition of international linkage for the
betterment of academic environment and faculty
development. KEC has had good relations with Polotsk State
University (Belarus), Peoples Friendship University (Rw;.m),
Moscow State Automobile and Road Technical University

Moscow State University (Rw;.m).

KEC has organized two international conferences on
Software, Knowledge, Information Management and
Applications (SKIMA) in 2008 and 2015 in Kathmandu,
Nepal.
In SKIMA 2015, ahogether 59 papers of national and
international authors were presented and among the
presented research papers, 25 papers were included in IEEE
Xplore Digital Library.
Admission
Students willing to join KEC must pass the entrance
examination conducted by the Institute of Engineering
UOE). IOE conducts computer based entrance test in
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Engineering
Aptitude. All questions are of objectives type and the time
duration of the test is 2 hours in one seating.
KEC admits students according to the merit list published by
IOE based on the entrance test results.
As everyone else, I too was concerned
about which college to study in, how to gain
the most from my college life, if I could
become a good engineer or not. I was
scared, as I had heard engineering to be
quite tough. But, the concern amounted to
naught as the answer to my uncertainty was Kantipur
