Head Injury--associated Deaths from Motorcycle Crashes. Relationship to Helmet-use Laws.

Division of injury control, 14 Nov. 1990, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2231995.

Accessed 27 Jan. 2017. Description: They amount of people that die due to motorcycle

accidents is insane. From 1979 to 1986 identified 15,194 deaths. Which may not seem

like much but of those was 69% male. And the average age of people that died due to

head injuries was 65.

Effectiveness: It shows that if you wear a helmet we will be able to bring those deaths

due to helmet laws will change. If we inforce helmet laws on motorcycles the death

amount and percentage can a will intensely drop.

Relation: It provides evidence to my claim that the more we inforce helmet laws the more

people will wear helmets and the amount of deaths due to head injury will significantly

decrease.

Helmet Effectiveness in Preventing Motorcycle Driver and Passenger Fatalities. 20 Dec. 1988,

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3228469. Accessed 27 Jan. 2017.

Description: Helmet effectiveness prevents fatalities in motorcycle accidents to both the

driver and the passenger. Wearing a helmet prevents fatalities due to the protection of a

helmet.
Effectiveness: Many more people make the choice of wearing helmets due to helmet laws

and the effectiveness of helmets and the lesser amount of fatalities.

Relation: Provides evidence to support my claim that due to helmet laws, there are a

larger amount of people wearing helmets and that the smaller odds of a fatality are when

you wear a helmet.

motorcycle-crash-changes-an-actors-life-but-not-his-refusal-to-wear-a-helmet-vol-31-no-

19/. Accessed 27 Jan. 2017. Description: Many people buy a motorcycle and do not know

the safety laws of them and dont ride with helmets due to them not knowing that there is

a law abiding this specific topic. Many people then get into accidents and end up it being

a fatal accident or near fatal accident.

Explanation: People will always make their pwn choices whether they want to wear a

helmet or if they just do not own one. Some accidents are proven to be fatal but people

survive to to them wearing a helmet.

Relation: Provides support for my topic due to the effectiveness of the helmet laws and

how it hurts some people when it is not followed but saves others and then they are

thankful due to these laws.
