Introduction
I went to a theatre play called: Mijn (bij)vrouw. The play was in the
Hanzehof and I went together with my class.

Summary
The play is about a couple, Walter and Dolores, that are married. Walter
really wants children but Dolores keeps it a secret for him that she cannot
have children. Their marriage isnt going well. Walter meets another
woman named Anne Mae and he falls madly in love with her. Walter and
Anne Mae are building up a passionate and romantic affair. Walter wants to
take care of both woman he loves but Dolores finds out that he is having
an affair with her best friend from the past. She becomes really angry but
wanted to give him another chance and even promised him a baby. She
couldnt give him a baby but Anne Mae could. Walter faces a big and
difficult decision. He has to choose between his new love and the coming
baby and his wife, which he loves as well.

Purpose
The purpose of this play is to tell about polygamy, the loving of multiple
people. The play wants to show to what extent people can have a love
relationship with multiple people and how far people are willing to go when
they love someone.

Means
The play uses different colours of light to make it clear where the play is
set and what characters are active at that time. For example, when Walter
and Dolores were in their home the colour was orange and only Walter and
Dolores were active, when the colour was blue only Walter and Anne Mae
were active and they were at another place.

I dont recognise any historical context or civic participation in this play.

Review
I found a review on www.theaterkrant.nl. In this review they say that you
can see that theyve doctored on the script and the mise-en-scne a lot
and that everything is gained together perfectly. I agree with this because
it looks like a well thought script and it runs very well. In the review they
also tell that in the end, where everything falls together, they cut it off
very quickly which causes confusion. I agree with this as well because in
my opinion this play was very confusing
Conclusion
In my opinion this play was a very complicated and confusing play. I could
not understand a lot of this play because of the swings between the
places were the play was set and the swings between active characters. I
liked the dancing in the play because it was very cheerful and enthusiastic
but they could do it more because they did it for only a short matter of
time. I did not really like this play because I did not understand anything of
it, the play became more clear when I made this report because now I read
some information but I think this should not be necessary to understand a
play.
