Lesson Plan on Place: Physical and human aspects of a location.

1. Warm up: Have colored pencils and crayons out on each table group as
well as a couple pieces of blank paper at each seat. Put the prompt:
Draw or explain your favorite place in the entire world. on the board.
Allow the students adequate time (10 minutes) to complete the warm
up. Once students are beginning to finish place your favorite place in
the entire world picture under the elmo/projector for the students to
see. Explain that today we are going to be working with and discussing
the physical and human aspects of a location, in this instance their
favorite places in the entire world.
2. Activity: Divide the students into groups by handing out vocab sheets
on different colored paper. The blues from each table will all work
together, as will the reds, etc. With these vocab lists the students will
then take a deeper look at their pictures or written descriptions and
discuss amongst their groups what types of human and physical
aspects they drew or discussed. After about 5 minutes of comparing
and contrasting push the groups to begin making a list of examples
that their new vocab list suggests may be present in their pictures of
their favorite place on Earth.

b. Bustling
c. Contemporary

connections. From this we will be able to tell what types of the
connections the students made to their favorite location on earth, as
well as how deeply they were thinking about the culture and details
present in whatever destination they chose.
