As a Government-registered Accrediting Body, Quidos is focussed on providing quality,
specialist training and CPD opportunities for Energy Assessors, whether they are entering
the industry, or developing their own professional knowledge.

We offer both formal City & Guilds training for Domestic and Non-Domestic Energy
Assessment, as well as the more experience-based Accreditation of Prior Experiential
Learning (APEL) accreditation for Non-Domestic strands such as NDEA, DEC, Air-
Conditioning Assessment, and Section 63 for Scotland.

Our range of CPD modules can be used by anyone, not just Quidos members. These have
been designed by a qualified assessor and auditor to give the best insight into how to
correctly undertake an assessment, identify particular features with ease, and ultimately,
demonstrate these skills during a QA audit.

APEL Accmestic)
(Non-Do
Completing the NDEA course is not the only way you can become a qualified non-domestic
assessor. Providing you have enough industry experience and training, you can become
accredited through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) route.

Quidos offers APEL accreditation for the following:

Non-Domestic EPC assessment (Levels 3 & 4);

Display Energy Certificate (DEC) assessment;
Air-Conditioning Inspection reports (Level 3 & 4);
Section 63 reports (for Scottish Non-Domestic).

APEL applicants will need to go through the following steps to accreditation:

Stage One
Applicants will be required to complete an application form, as well as demonstrate their
competencies within the applied-for strand. This would include a skills audit, CPD record,
relevant qualification and training certificates. These documents will be reviewed by the
APEL Assessor to determine whether the applicant is suitable to progress.

Stage Two
Once the APEL Assessor has approved the applicants suitability, and any recommended
top-up training has been completed, applicants are now ready to prepare their portfolio
of reports for assessment.
For both Non-Domestic and Air Conditioning Energy Assessors, the applicant is required to
submit three reports to the relevant standard. Each report submitted requires a Declaration
Form to be completed. This specifies the items required, and ensures the applicant
understands that without all the required items, the assessment cannot begin.

Stage Three
At this point, the APEL Assessor will determine whether the applicant has
passed the assessment and is ready to be accredited.

Further details on APEL accreditation can be found on the Quidos website.

One-day Train
Sessions ing
Quidos regularly run one-day training masterclass sessions to assist energy assessors with
their day-to-day practice.
The sessions are normally based in our Bath offices, however, given enough interest, we
will consider running these in other locations.

Our DEA Masterclass is one of our most popular training sessions. Making use of the
experience of our Quality Assurance team, the session helps to promote best practice,
overcoming common issues, and how to deal with unexpected or unusual properties. The
session is also aimed at understanding the QA process; from what is required, why, and
how to pass every time.
