Abstract
The language skill development in age 5 10 years old children are
influenced by many factors, one of them is the environmental factor. Environment
ability to stimulate childs activity does have an important role; Language is the
words which are used to convey meaning and purpose (Hurlock, 1978: 176), the
use of language as a means of communication into a means to serve the people
needs and desires. Childrens need in convey needs and desires of this right shall be
facilitated by people in the surrounding areas, then to stimulate a child's ability to
speak maximally should engage environment in a pattern of learning. This
research considers that puppet especially Puppet Purwa was seen to have several
advantages as an effective medium to stimulate language skills in age 5-10 years
old children related to the rise phenomenon of young puppeteer.
This research is an ethnographic research using qualitative methods approach
to take the subject of young puppeteers in Central Java and Yogyakarta. Purpose
random sampling taken from children who won the festival held in Dies Natalis
UNY. While the data collection techniques are observation; interview;
documentation Data analysis techniques used in this research is using
triangulation data analysis techniques. Triangulation that is by confirm all the data
obtained with all existing documents then put it in the right order and interpret it so
that becomes a conclusion.
Content of paper find about Emergence phenomenon of young puppeteer or
small child puppeteer becomes a sign that the constraint in a child's language
ability to express ideas, desires and doesnt have to be difficult. The language
structure, intonation and science literature in the puppet show is able to done by
the young puppeteer. So that this research has Find a purpose to reveal puppets as
a stimulation medium of language development with doing observations on the
young puppeteers representing every category of age 5 -10 years in Central Java
and Yogyakarta. A learning patterns which involve the environment is what
researchers will do in the form of puppet media use to children in age 5 -10 years
old. Puppet media is a teaching media based on local wisdom and it contains the
culture value of the local environment. The contribution that can be given in this
research is recommend Puppet Purwa as one of the effective media in stimulating
the language skills in age 5-10 years old children.
