Essay: Being an Aditya Birla Scholar: Experience sharing

Three years have passed since I joined BITS Pilani, and reflecting
upon my experiences here, I can well say that my college journey has been
highly enriching, motivating and exciting. Moreover, I am really glad to be
an Aditya Birla Scholar and over these years, it has definitely been a part
of my enthusiasm towards Aditya Vikram Birlas vision of Marching out
boldly, seizing opportunities and meeting challenges head on.
Academically, I started off on a lukewarm note as I wasnt quite
comfortable with the new college environment. Over the years, as I
became more accustomed, I ramped up quite satisfactorily and am pleased
to say that I am doing well now. I thank the Aditya Birla Group for
trusting me and renewing the scholarship back then. I pulled myself to a
CGPA of 8.45/10 from a 7.0/10 in the beginning, having fared
considerably well in the previous semester making a 9.75/10. Currently, I
am in the top 25% of the 2012 batch and ranked 14th in the Civil
Engineering(CE) stream.
In terms of extra-curricular activities, I still am playing a very active
part as a guitarist and bassist in the Music Club. Our group has been
successfully organizing Music Nights, Alumni Nights, Farewell Nights
and other such musical performances during cultural and technical
festivals every semester. I have also won a solo guitar competition
Axetacy twice and a musical competition Unplugged held during
OASIS, a cultural fest in campus. I have participated in innovative
challenges (in CE) during APOGEE, a technical fest in campus and have
also completed various CE projects that involve software simulations of
geothermal reservoirs and heat pumps and their applications related to
efficiency/parametric studies.
To sum it up, I am extremely grateful to the Aditya Birla Group for
letting me be a part of the great vision that the founding members
conceived. I sincerely cant emphasize enough how the scholarship has
helped me both in being a well-rounded student, motivating myself to
perform better every time; and also financially at a time when two of my
siblings have embarked on their college journeys. Thank you.
