PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION

Company Background

Our company name is 100%vivid engineering pvt (ltd). This is our first project in a role as
consultant. We started our company few weeks ago at SLIIT. We have 3 directors and 2 share
holders in our company.

Project Description

The object is to build a tower which will help a person to cross 1.5m span over a waterway. The
preferred material for the construction is timber with some degree of freedom. The bridge should
be independent of the basement/abutment. A suitable platform will be provided to test the
bridge.

Design Requirements

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

Span of the bridge 1.5m

Width of the bridge Should not exceed0.5m

Load carrying capacity Around 700 N (a member from your group should able to walk
through the bridge)

Superstructure Designer has the freedom to choose

Substructure Existing

Preferred material Timber

Architectural Style Contemporary style

Technical and Infrastructure Requirements

The bridge can carry out 700 N weight and width should not be exceed more than 0.5m.

Functional Requirements

The Bridge proposed to build between Colombo academy of Hospitality Management and Play
ground. This bridge will be the only way to connect these two areas. There will be s a Natural
storm water drain under the bridge construction.

Estimated Project Duration

The project duration is 12 weeks. Constructor should complete project within this time period.
