INTRODUCTION
GATHERING SONG: Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee (ELW 836)
In todays reading from Deuteronomy we are called to choose life by loving
and obeying God. Much of todays gospel reading echoes portions of the GREETING
Ten Commandments. Jesus instructions to the crowd reveal a pattern of
behavior that honors both God and the neighbor, resulting in life and The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of

PRAYER UPON ENTERING THE PEW

God of mercy and compassion, in your love you have given us your law,
the path to full life by loving you and others. Give me wisdom, courage,
and strength to live in accord with your law. Thank you for hearing us when
we pray, for forgiving us when we fail to love you and others, and for
sending us your Holy Spirit to set us aright again. Remind us that with you
there is mercy and loving kindness. Transform our lives so that we inspire
our family, friends, and our enemies to be just, forgiving, kind, faithful, and
joyful; through Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Amen.
curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, 20loving
the LORD your God, obeying him, and holding fast to him; for that means
life to you and length of days, so that you may live in the land that
the LORD swore to give to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to
Jacob.

The word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.
