Musica Sacra
Ave Verum Corpus Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
A motet, written in 1791, is a hymn in honor of the Blessed Sacrament, sometimes ascribed
to Pope Innocent VI.
Originally an organ improvisation, played in 1861; the text is the sixth verse of Aquinas
hymn, Sacris Solemnis.
Alleged to have been written during the Renaissance as a secular song for 3 voices, it was
rearranged in 1845 for liturgical purposes.
A setting of the Magnificat, this version is based on John Michael Talbots melody, re-
arranged for treble voices and guitar.
True Colors Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly (Add. arr: Em Alcantara)
This Cyndi Lauper original was popularized by Phil Collins in the late 1990s and was also
used recently in the hit TV musical series, Glee.
Shrine of Jesus Singing Priests: Fr. Jay-ar Babor and Fr. Cris Cellan
Sanlibong Buhay Manoling Francisco, Jandi Arboleda, arr: Norman Agatep
Add. arr./ Edit: Allan Argonza Puno
This is inspired by the prayer of San Lorenzo Ruiz, If I have a thousand lives, I would offer all
to God.
A play of silly words with no meaning, this novelty song is a fun classic.
We pray for the grace to serve others and the humility to allow others to serve us as well.
Our very essence, the reason we serve in the Shrine of Jesus, under the loving guidance of
Mons Bobby Canlas, our Father Rector.
Hymn to Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life Allan Argonza Puno
Written in 2009 for the 10th Fiesta Anniversary of the Shrine of Jesus, the simple, catchy
melody can easily be transformed into other genres of music, in honor of our Divine Master,
Jesus Christ.

Prayer of St. Francis Allen Pote, arr: Robert Delgado
This setting of the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi will be performed tonight with sign language
for our brothers and sisters who cannot hear but can feel the beautiful message through
these gestures.
From its humble beginnings with just a handful of volunteers, the ministry now has
five resident choirs. All choirs sing as one joint choir for feast days and special
occasions at the Shrine. Since 2009, they have been performing at the annual
Christmas Carols at the Shrine, a mini-performance of the Shrines resident choirs
before the anticipated Simbang Gabi Masses.
The all-male and all-female groups consist of alumni of university and church choirs.
Their shared love for music gathered them together in the ministry of service, which
they are sharing with the community in the 10.30AM and 5.30PM Sunday Masses.
The Serenata Vocal Ensemble was formed in 1990 by its present choirmaster, Allan
Argonza Puno. It has served as resident choir in Manila Cathedral, Intramuros for 20
years, in San Isidro Labrador, Pasay City for four years, and in the Shrine of Jesus
for 12 years.
The St. Joseph Parish Chorale is a church-based self-supporting choir that has been
serving the community of the St. Joseph Parish Church, Tambo, Paraaque City since
1980. The group started to sing for the anticipated Sunday Mass every Saturday at
5:30 pm at the Shrine of Jesus in the year 2000.
Under the leadership of their musical director, Sir Ideh Paez, the SJPC began to
participate in prestigious local competitions and other events. The group has always
been invited to sing for Sunday Mass TV programs and other television guest
performances. The group continues to fulfill its commitment through its local
pilgrimages and active participation in various parochial events across the country.
