(a, c, e) SSWH5 The student will trace the origins and expansion of the Islamic World between 600 CE and 1300 CE. (a, b) SSWH6 The student will describe the diverse characteristics of early African societies before 1800 CE. (b, c) Blooms Level of Critical Thinking: X Remembering X Understanding X Applying Analyzing Evaluating X Creating Description of how to implement in the class: Prior to the actual assignment students would have received instruction and the knowledge in order to complete this Empire Brochure. Students will use any notes, graphic organizers, lecture notes, video notes, and class discussion to complete the brochure. The goal of this assignment is for students to be able to apply their learning through the creation and understanding of different historical empires. Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): Loti 2 - students will just need to comprehend the knowledge obtained and organize it accordingly and the focus is strictly content oriented. Loti 3 - students will use higher order thinking in attempts to understand, create, and synthesize information. Student and Teacher centered Loti 4 - students will use all skills learned to create and apply their knowledge into the brochure Description of the sample spreadsheet and graph/chart provided *: Viewers will have the chance to examine student work that shows the organization and argument of different empires. This brochure will be used almost like a graphic organizer because it will compile important content for students to refer to later. Other comments about your proposed spreadsheet/graph/chart activity: All the content created is individual to the students view and there will be bias in the development of each brochure as students may play favorites in advertising for an empire.
