OneunfortunatelycommonproblemisdatacorruptiononaharddriveandthedreadedUnmountable
BootVolumeerror.Manypeoplefeeltheyareforcedtoformatthedriveandstartfromscratchinthis

situation.However,frequentlythereisabetterwayofsaveyourinstallation,aslongasyouhavethe
installationmediaavailable.DirectionsforbothXPandWindows7included.

Ifyoureceivetheunmountablebootvolumeerrorandhaveaninstallationdisk,youstillhavea
chancetosaveyoursystem. Related Tutorials
UseMultipleClashofClansAccountsonyouriPhone
Thiserrorisfrequentlycausedbyunfortunatewearandtearcorruptionofthedataontheharddrive.By
usingthefollowingutilities,youoftencanrepairthedamagedharddriveandpreventacomplete
reinstallationofyoursystem.

XPDirections:

1.InsertyourXPinstallationdiscintoanopticaldriveandbootupyourcomputer.
2.Whenyouseeawelcomescreen,hittheRkeyonyourkeyboard.Thiswillenteryouintorecovery
modewithaDOSprompt.
3.Nowtypechkdsk/pandhitEnter.Thiswilllaunchautilitywhichwillcheckforerrorsonyourhard
drive.
4.Aftertheprocessisdone,typefixbootandhitEntertorepairanydamagedbootfileswhichmayhave
becomecorrupted.Whenaskedtosayyesorno,typetheYkeyonyourkeyboard.
5.TypeexitandpresstheEnterkeytorebootyourcomputer.

Windows7Directions:

1.BootfromtheWindows7DVD.
2.SelectRepairmycomputer.
3.SelectCommandPrompt
4.Fromthecommandpromptenterthefollowingcommand:Chkdsk/RC:whereCisyourboot
drive.
5.AnswerYtocheckthediskthenexttimethatthesystemrestarts.
6.Rebootthesystem.Afterthereboot,Windowswillchecktheharddiskandtrytorepairthedamaged
area.
7.Ifyoustillgettheerrorafterthisprocess,repeattheprocessbuttryrebuildingthemasterbootrecord
atthecommandpromptwiththefollowingcommand:bootrec/fixbootandthenrebooting

Ifyoursystemcanbesaved,youshouldnowbeabletobootbackintoWindowswithoutaproblem!

Actually,OnWindows7,thesetupandrepairmenusgetstuckif
"BootFromUSBDrive"IsEnabledInYourComputer'sBIOS.I
wouldEnterYourBIOSSetupandLookForAnythingThatSays
USBBootorLegacyUSBStartup,EtcandMakeSureThatIs
Disabled.IdidextensiveresearchintothisproblemwhileIwas
tryingtoinstallWindows&andIFoundthatthiswaswhatwas
keepingthesetupstuckonthefloralbackground.OnceDisabled,
SetupCameUpWithin1Minute.HopeThisHelps!

withit.OnLaptops,atleast.AllIdidwasremovetheharddrivestartedthe
computerwiththerecoverydiskinitandthembam!Itloaded.Minelikeyours
wouldnotloadsafemodeorcommandprompnoteventherecoverydisk!It
loadedwiththeharddriveoutofitandthenIputitbackinusingrubber
gloves(ordishglovesifyoudon'thaveany)topreventbehingshocked!I'mnot
tryingtherepairsystem!WishmeluckandIhopethathelps!

laptopbecauseitstartedtofreezeuponme.Whenibooteditupittellsmeitpreparing
automaticrepairafteritshowsthiserror.Thenitjustgoestoablackscreenandnothing

UnfortunatelywiththeASUSrigs,youdon'tgetinstalldiscs.I'verun
themforyears,andnevergottenone.Whatyouhavetodointhiscase,if
youcannotrepair,isgetaholdoftheISOforthecorrectinstallof
windowsanddoafreshinstallfromaflashdrive.Ihadthesameproblem
whenIgotsomerealllllybadmalwarefromafailedgameinstall.
