This is a pencil sketch of a sphere.

The lighting
of this drawing is coming from the top right
hand side. I used a combination of 2H, HB and
3B pencils. The technique I used for this is
smudging.
This is a rough pencil sketch of a bus stop. This drawing is based on a one point perspective view. The pencils I
used were 2H, H and B. The technique I used is cross hatching.
This is a pencil sketch of a rose. I used a
combination of 2H, HB, 2B and 3B pencils. I
used the pointillism technique on this
drawing.
This is a pencil sketch I drew using the
smudging technique. This is a drawing of two
hands held together, reluctant to let go. I
used H, HB, and 3B pencils for this drawing.
This is another pencil drawing where I used
the cross hatching technique. This is a
drawing of the Kuala Lumpur Tower which is
a historic landmark back in my country,
Malaysia. The pencils I used were 2H, HB, 2B
and 3B.
This is another pencil drawing using the
smudging technique. This is a drawing of a
wine glass half-filled with water. I again used
a combination of 2H, HB and 3B pencils.
This is pen based drawing of buildings based
on a one point perspective view which is also
being observed from below. I used a Faber-
Castell True Gel pen with a fine 0.5 tip to
achieve the sharpness of the buildings.
This pen based drawing is based on a two point perspective view. I again used the same
Faber-Castell True Gel Pen with a fine 0.5 tip.
This is another pen based drawing where I
used a three point perspective view on it. I
used an Artline 200 pen with a fine 0.4 tip for
this drawing.
This is a compilation of some drawings I
drew for my Malaysian Certificate of
Education Arts portfolio. Top right is a
traditional Malaysian instrument known as
the Rebab played almost similarly as a cello. I
used Faber-Castell colour pencils for this
drawing. Bottom left is a pen based drawing
of a grand piano. I used a Faber-Castell True
Gel Pen with a fine 0.5 tip and with a cross
hatching technique.
Top left is another sketch of a traditional
Malaysian instrument called the kompang
played similarly as a mini drum. I used a
combination of H, HB and 2B pencils for this
sketch. Bottom right is a drawing of a french
horn using a Faber-Castell True Gel Pen with
a 0.5 tip. I also used a similar cross hatching
technique for this drawing.
For this part of my Malaysian Certificate of
Education Arts portfolio, I had to take
realistic drawings and simplify them to make
an interesting design quite like a logo. Top
left is a pencil drawing of a violin where I
used H, HB and 2B pencils with the smudging
technique. The pen based drawing on the
right is a simplified version of the realistic
drawing and the drawing on the bottom is
the final simplified version of that. I again
used the Faber-Castell True Gel pen with a
0.5 tip.
Top left is a traditional Malaysian instrument
known as the gedombak also similarly
played as a mini drum. For this drawing I
used Faber-Castell colour pencils. The
drawings on the right and on the bottom are
again simplified versions of it using the same
gel pen.
This is a piece of linoleum or a linocut which
has been through a series of carvings. I
personally designed a linocut print with a
musical instrument theme. For each layer
there is a different colour. Therefore, I had to
carve a layer from the linoleum, spread lino
paint on it then print it onto a piece of rice
paper for the best results. This process is
repeated for each layer until the final linocut
print has been obtained.
This is my finished linocut print design with
the title that I have personally thought of
which is Acoustic Sunset as the rainbow
effect on the background symbolises a
sunset and the musical instruments portray
the acoustic element of the entire design.
