Welcome to the Inferno over Dragonspine tournament pack.

Let me introduce myself, my

names is James Lammin and I will be organising the event; if you have any questions that were not
covered by this pack please do not hesitate to contact me on:

Lamminbassman@gmail.com

To start with I'd like to briefly run through some general principles which will help you to
understand what this event is and how it will be run:

This is a two day event for Warhammer Fantasy Battle using 2500 point armies
It is being held at the Wayland Games Gaming Centre in Hockley Essex (All details of the
venue can be found at the bottom of this pack)
FYI the venue has a bar!
We aim to have as much of an 'out of the box' event as possible; although we have made
one or two changes to certain rules/ clarifications to attempt to make this event as
enjoyable as possible for everyone.
The event will be using a roll call comp system; all of which is included in this pack.
Tickets are 10 per head (when bought in advanced) and can be purchased from
http://www.waylandgames.co.uk/
Food is available to buy from the centre including burgers, hotdogs, nachos, etc.
Unpainted armies are allowed but please be aware that this event deducts points for
unpainted armies, so if you want the best score possible get those brushes working!
There will be an award for the best painted army on the day

What can I use?

The following factions and army lists will be allowed at this event:

All the final Warhammer 8th edition Armies books (Beastmen, Bretonnia, Daemons of
Chaos, Dark Elves, Dwarfs, High Elves, Lizardmen, Ogre Kingdoms, Orcs and Goblins, Skaven,
The Empire, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts, Warriors of Chaos and Wood Elves)
The Legion of Azgorh (Chaos Dwarfs) from the Tamurkhan book
The following End Times lists: Undead Legions, Legions of Chaos, The Host of the Phoenix
King, The Host of the Eternity King, The Host of Aestyrion and The Grand Legion of the
Everchosen.
The Warhammer Formations presented in End Times: Thanqual and End Times: Archaon
are not allowed.
Battle Scrolls, Scrolls of Binding and Monsterous Arcanum is NOT ALLOWED

Third party models and Proxy models or Conversions are allowed as long as it is clear to your
opponents what the model is now representing; in short if you have made an effort to do something
cool it will probably be fine. If you are at all unsure if your model will be allowed please send a photo
or two to Lamminbassman@gmail.com and I will confirm if we are happy to let the model(s) be
used.
What should I bring?

Your army
Dice, tape measure, and any gaming aids needed by your army
Movement trays for any unit of 3 or more models
Warhammer 8th edition rulebook
The latest edition of your army book and any supplement books you require
2 printed copies of your army list
Any FAQs you will be relying on if you dont have it and a copy cant be found, expect to be
ruled against!

Building your Army:

Ok, so now the fun starts, getting your army together. This is a 2500pts event. Please be
aware that all army lists for this event will need to have the following:

Your Name at the top

The name of the faction you are intending to use
Your Comp Score
Unit (points), General/magic lore, Upgrades (points), Total points
Your Armies total points cost
Your list will need to be submitted to Lamminbassman@gmail.com by SATURDAY 1ST
OCTOBER 2016. Late submission will result in a 5 TP deduction from your final event score.

The event will use the 25% Lords and Heroes allowance as per The Original Warhammer
Fantasy 8th Edition Rulebook, (please ignore the change to this is the last FAQ). THE ARMY
SELECTION RULES IN END TIMES: ARCHAON WILL NOT BE USED.

All Special Characters Will be allowed, this does include the End Times Characters (Obviously only
those which fit into the 25% allowance).

Finally One model in a unit may benefit from a look out sir roll against the following spells;
Dwellers below, Final Transmutation and The Dreaded 13th.

The Comp:

As I said right at the start this event will be using a roll call comp system; however if you are
already familiar with this system make sure you pay special attention below as we have made some
changes to it.

Ok, so we are aiming for that unrestricted out of the box feel but we want to ensure you all
have a good time as well; so the system reflects that. Effectively it is as follows:

You start at 0
For every choice in your army consult the comp guidelines below.
Add or subtract as instructed to get your final score with the following conditions
You can finish with a minus score
You can never gain the plus bonus for duplicates of the same units more than twice; in other
words if you have 3 scourgerunner chariots you will only gain +2 to your score, not +3.
Your score has a max upper limit of +10 but no lower limit, you can be a minus 50 if you can
fit it in.

Your total comp score will be used in two ways:

1. Your first game opponent will not be random but will be matched to you based on your comp
score; so if I have a -5 list I will be playing someone in game 1 with as close a comp score as
possible. (Swiss pairing will match opponents after round 1)

2. At the end of the tournament your overall comp score will be added or subtracted as
appropriate from your tournament score to give you your final position.

Generic Comp (For all Armies):

The following Common Magic Items are composition points at this event:

-1 Crown of Command
-1 for the Standard of Discipline
-1 for Fozzriks Folding Fortress
+1 for the Arabyan Carpet
+2 for the Wizarding Hat

The following criteria are compositions points if they are met:

+1 if your army does not include an item that automatically dispels a spell (such as the Dispel
Scroll, Rune of Spellbreaking or the Cube of Darkness. This does not apply to Daemons of
Chaos)
+1 if your army does not contain a level 3+ wizard; but DOES contain other spell casters,
spells or bound items (this does not apply to Dwarfs)
+2 if your army includes no magic users, spells or bound items (this does not apply to
Dwarfs)
+3 if your army includes no duplicate choices of any kind; the same unit entry with different
equipment DOES count as a duplicate choice for this criteria.

Units (not characters or single models) that cost over a certain points value will attract penalties as
per the below list:

-1 per unit that costs between 450 and 599 points inclusive
-3 per unit that costs between 600 and 749 points inclusive
-5 per unit that costs 750 points or more

Legions Armies:

IF YOU WISH TO SELECT ONE OF THE FOLLOWING LEGIONS ARMIES PRESENTED IN THE
WARHAMMER END TIMES SUPPLIMENTS YOU MUST APPLY THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL ARMY
LIST SELECTION RULES TO YOUR COMP SCORE:

Once you have selected your Legion list you must then chose a PARENT ARMY BOOK.
PARENT ARMY BOOKS are the MAIN army book that you are using, whilst the other army
books that you can select units from become allies for your PARENT ARMY.
ALL UNITS THAT YOU SELECT FROM THE OTHER ARMY BOOKS AVAILABLE IN YOUR LEGION
LIST WILL CONFER AN ADDITIONAL -1 TO YOUR COMP SCORE PER UNIT; ON TOP OF ANY
OTHER MINUS THAT THEY ALREADY INCUR. FURTHERMORE ANY POSITIVE SCORES THAT
WOULD BE CONFERED BY UNITS THAT ARE SELECTED FROM AN ARMY BOOK THAT WAS NOT
NOMINATED AS YOUR PARENT ARMY BOOK DO NOT CONFER THESE POSITIVES. THE ONLY
PLUSES THAT YOUR LIST CAN GAIN ARE FROM UNITS THAT COME FROM YOUR PARENT
ARMY.
IN SHORT EVERY UNIT THAT YOU SELECT FROM AN ARMY BOOK THAT IS NOT YOUR PARENT
BOOK WILL ONLY EVER OFFER A NEGATIVE PENALTY TO YOUR ARMY.
POSSITIVES AND NEGATIVES FOR COMPOSITION FROM YOUR PARENT ARMY BOOK REMAIN
WHOLLY UNCHANGED BY THESE EXTRA RULES.
You need to ensure that you CLEARLY MARK on your army list what Legion List you are
planning on using and the PARENT ARMY BOOK that you have selected for that Legion.

Undead Legions-

Undead Legion armies start with a comp score of -3.

Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Tomb Kings and Vampire
Counts when selecting an Undead Legion army. All pluses and minuses presented under those
individual army headings apply to an undead legion army list.

Legions of Chaos-
Legions of Chaos armies start with a comp score of -3 if they include any units from the following
armies:

Warhammer Armies: Warriors of Chaos

Warhammer Armies: Daemons of Chaos

If they do not include units from either of those books then they start with a comp score of 0.

Legions of Choas armies WILL NOT benefit from the REIGN OF CHAOS rules presented in End Times:
Glotkin. In this tournament Legions of Chaos armies will not use any Reign of Chaos chart at all; even
if the army includes Daemons. We will just assume that the Chaos Gods are elsewhere, or that the
Daemons presence is not enough to draw the God's attention.

Legions of Chaos armies still benefit from the Eye of the Gods special rule, as per End Times:
Glotkin's guidelines, however you use the chart presented in the Warriors of Chaos Army Book, NOT
the Glotkin book.

ALL OTHER RULES FOR LEGIONS OF CHAOS REMAIN UNCHANGED

Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Beastmen, Daemons of Choas
and Warriors of Chaos when selecting a Legion of Choas army. However please ignore all references
to starting comp scores presented in those sections.

Grand Legion of The Everchosen-

Grand Legion of the Everchosen armies start with a comp score of -3 if they include any units from
the following armies:

Warhammer Armies: Warriors of Chaos

Warhammer Armies: Daemons of Chaos
Warhammer Armies: Skaven

If they do not include units from either of those books then they start with a comp score of 0.

Grand Legion of the Everchosen armies WILL NOT benefit from the REIGN OF CHAOS rules
presented in End Times: Glotkin. In this tournament Grand Legion of the Everchosen armies will not
use any Reign of Chaos chart at all; even if the army includes Daemons. We will just assume that the
Chaos Gods are elsewhere, or that the Daemons presence is not enough to draw the God's
attention.

Grand Legion of the Everchosen armies still benefit from the Eye of the Gods special rule, as per End
Times: Glotkin's guidelines, however you use the chart presented in the Warriors of Chaos Army
Book, NOT the Glotkin book.

ALL OTHER RULES FOR GRAND LEGION OF THE EVERCHOSEN REMAIN UNCHANGED

Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Beastmen, Daemons of
Choas, Skaven and Warriors of Chaos when selecting a Grand Legion of the Everchosen army.
Please ignore all references to starting comp scores presented in the Daemons of Chaos, Warriors of
Chaos, Beastmen and Skaven Sections.

The Host of Aestyrion-

The Host of Aestyrion starts with a comp score of -3.

Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Dark Elves and High Elves
when selecting a Host of Aestyrion army.

The Host of the Phoenix King-

The Host of the Phoenix King starts with a comp score of -3.

Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Dark Elves, High Elves and
Wood Elves when selecting a Host of the Phoenix King army, along with the following in addition:

-5 Alarielle, Avatar of Isha

The Host of the Eternity King-

The Host of the Eternity King starts with a comp score of -3.

Host of the Eternity King armies DO NOT benefit from the sharing of special rules between units. In
other words, all units in the army only have the special rules that are presented in their parent army
books, models with Martial Prowess for example DO NOT GAIN Murderous Prowess in addition and
Vice Versa. Wood Elf Units keep the rules presented in their parent army books also.

Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Dark Elves, High Elves and
Wood Elves when selecting a Host of the Eternity King army, along with the following in addition:

-9 Alarielle, Incarnate of Life

-3 Tyrion, Incarnate of Light
-5 Caradryan, Incarnate of Fire

Scenarios:

All 5 games will be the battleline mission from the Warhammer Fantasy 8th Edition Rulebook.

In addition each game will have a special mission for players to try and complete; anyone who
successfully completes these missions will receive an additional 1 TP at the end of the event, for
every mission completed; that's a bonus 5 TPs if you complete all 5 missions.
Game 1: Dishonour, to complete this mission you need to break your opponents fortitude; how to
calculate fortitude can be found in the warhammer 8th Edition rulebook under the mission 'Blood
and Glory'.

Game 2: The Dragonspine, place a hill in the centre of the table. Only units containing fortitude may
control the hill, a single model cannot be used to control the hill (unless it is the standard bearer
from a unit). A unit containing a Battle Standard or the general may control the hill. If you control
the hill at the end of the game you score this mission.

Game 3: Breakthrough, to complete this mission you must finish the game with 3+ units in the
enemy deployment zone, single models count for this mission.

Game 4: The Inferno Rages, to complete this mission you must destroy all of your opponents core
units.

Game 5: Regicide, to complete this mission you must slay the enemy general; you still score this
mission if the enemy general is killed by other means, i.e. miscasting, fleeing, etc.

Winning the Tournament:

Three factors will be used to find the winner of this event. Firstly we will take all of your
tournament points from your gaming (Max 100). Then we will add or subtract your comp score from
this number. Next we will deduct any points that you have lost for your armies painting. Finally we
will deduct any points applicable for late submission of your army list. The person who has the
highest score once all of these numbers have been crunched is the overall winner of Inferno over
Dragonspine.

Painting Points:

Whilst you may attend the Inferno over Dragonspine with a completely unpainted or based
army it might be worth cracking out your brushes all the same! If your army is NOT fully painted and
based, you will be deducted 5 TPs at the end of the event.

At the end of your very first game, we will ask you to answer the following four questions
about your opponents army:

Is it fully painted and based (including painted movement trays)?

Does the army have a consistent theme (i.e. painted the same livery, based the same etc)?
Does the army have an awesome centre piece?
Did they paint the army themselves?

The answers to those questions will be used to score every armies painting.
Best Painted-

On Sunday Lunchtime players who have painted their own army may display it for best
painted judging. The event organisers and gaming centre staff will select the one army that we feel is
the best of the best. This army will win the best painted army award.

The awards:

The Following awards will be up for grabs:

FAQ:

All current WFB FAQ's available from Games Workshop/ Forgeworld will be used at this
event alongside this document. If this FAQ or comp pack contradicts any rules found in one
of those FAQ's this document takes precedent.
Khaine Magic will NOT be used.
True line of sight will be used.
Open ground does count as terrain for the purposes of the Curse of Anraheir spell.
Birona's Timewarp cannot increase a units movement value above 10, so max march would
be 20 inches.
The wizard who miscast cannot get a Look out Sir from damage from a miscast template.
Units cannot swift reform and garrison a building in the same turn.
All buildings (Including Fozzriks Folding Fortress, Rock of inevitability etc) may be garrisoned
by a MAXIMUM OF 20 WOUNDS worth of models and are always counted as having two
floors.
Cannon balls MUST be able to see the spot where they are being placed when firing.
Cannons cannot be fired at a target that cannot be seen (if you can't see it, then you don't
know its hiding there!)
Cannon balls cannot bounce through impassable terrain or buildings. The cannon ball will
however inflict hits on any unit garrisoning a building as normal.
Cannons mounted on chariots, such as the Ironblaster, Skullcannon and steam tank may not
pivot in the shooting phase and like all other cannons must shoot in a straight line forward
from the barrel.
A model in a challenge cannot be affected by any enemy breath weapons or impact hits
done by models from outside the challenge.
A Character model may make way at the start of any round of close combat.
Ironcurse Icon works against all Weapons that fire like a War Machine.
Immunity to Killing Blow also gives immunity to Heroic Killing Blow.
A model with Always Strike First and with equal or higher initiative than an enemy model
with Always Strike First and Always Strike Last will get to re-roll attacks in close combat
against that model.
If the general character model is killed but his mount survives you still receive the +100vp for
killing the general, and the fortitude points for slaying the general; although you do not
receive the victory points for the cost of that model.
If 2 characters have incompatible base sizes to the unit they are joining then they are placed
on either side of the unit. A 3rd character with an incompatible base size may not join the
unit.
The item Chalice of Blood and Darkness cannot be used between casting and dispelling a
spell.
All mounts, except ridden monsters, are ignored for leadership purposes for the Spell
Treason of Tzeentch. In the case of chariots the creatures pulling the chariot and the
chariots leadership are ignored.
The Tally of Pestilence has no affect while Epidemius is held in reserve.
Only 1 character may charge out of a unit per phase.
Virtual Pivoting is NOT allowed.
The Battle Standard Bearer may take mundane items available to normal heroes of their
type
The -1S from the Blizzard Aura special rule for Frostheart Phoenixes does not stack.

a model may have. If a model only has conditional Ward Saves then it also receives a 6+
Ward Save.
The army list does not need to state any Lores for Alarielle. She chooses her Lore(s) at the
start of each game as per her special rules.
The army list must state if Teclis is using High Magic or Battle Magic. If you are choosing
Battle Magic then Teclis may pick his spells at the start of every game.
Models with the Predatory Fighter rule may benefit from it when fighting from the second
or subsequent ranks.
Piranha Blade only gives Multiple Wounds (D3) Special Rule while being used in close
combat.
Burning Alignment and The Deliverance of Itza target all enemy units within the specified
distance of the spells. This applies even if the enemy unit is engaged in close combat or in
the rear/flank arc of the model casting the spell.
Tiktaq'To may join units of Terradon Riders.
Daemonic characters with more than 1 magic weapon can only benefit from the effects of 1

Any other business:

I would like to hope that as a team we have covered almost all the eventualities and
questions above, however if you are unsure of anything please just drop me and email on
Lamminbassman@gmail.com.

I would like to thank the Essex Warhounds and Woking lads for their feedback and help with creating
what we hope is a dynamic and exciting event pack.

On behalf of myself and my partners in crime, thanks and I look forward to seeing you at the event.

Cheers,
