SUBJECT: INTRODUCE NEW 300 AMP IGBT FUSES

PURPOSE: To inform the field of new 300 amp fuses and service guidelines.
APPLICATION: Komatsu Electric Drive Dump Trucks:
830E-AC: A30001 - A30071, A30079 - A30108;
830E-1AC: A30072 - A30078, A30109 & UP;
930E-4: A30462 & Up;
930E-4SE: A30587 & Up
FAILURE CODE: 0860ZC
DESCRIPTION:

There may be some confusion over fuse part numbers in the control cabinet of the electric drive trucks
listed above. The purpose of this bulletin is to ensure the correct replacement parts are obtained, and any
defective parts on a truck are serviced correctly.
Fuses (GE1298) are packaged as a matched pair of fuses, and are marked with a current rating of 600
amps. If one fuse must be replaced in the control cabinet, both fuses on that phase must be replaced as a
MATCHED pair as they were originally packaged.
Some fuses marked with a current rating of 300 amps may have been sold under part number (GE1298).
The correct part number for the fuses that are marked with a 300 amp current rating and packaged as a
single fuse is (XA4290). These fuses are NOT MATCHED to each other.
All fuses in inventory that are individually packaged and are labeled with a 300 amp rating must always
be installed in pairs of two when replacing defective fuses on an inverter.
Fuses (GE1298) and (XA4290) are being replaced by (GE1837). Fuse (GE1837) is a pair of 300 amp
fuses that are packaged together for convenience. The (GE1837) fuses are not matched to each other, but
they must always be installed as pairs on the same inverter phase when replacing any defective fuses.
Fuses (2, Figure 1) indicate one pair of fuses on one inverter phase.
In an unlikely event that only a single fuse blows, both fuses (2, Figure 1) in that pair on the inverter must
be replaced with a new pair, and the new pair being installed must be of the same fuse part number. Never
mix different fuses on the same inverter phase. However, a pair of new (GE1837) fuses can be
installed to an inverter phase, even if other phases of that same inverter still have the (GE1298) fuses
installed.

NOTE: The matched pair of (GE1298) fuses are individually rated at 300 amps each. Since they were
only sold as matched pairs and intended to be used in a parallel circuit together, they were all marked
with a 600 amp rating. Since the (XA4290) fuses were sold individually, they are individually marked
with a 300 amp rating. When these fuses labeled at 300 amps each are installed in a parallel circuit, the
combined current capacity is 600 amps.
