FIRST DECADE
The first reading taken from the Word of God, stresses that it is good to
pray to our beloved dead. A Reading from the Second Book of Macabees: (2
Mac 12, 43-46)

The valiant Judas took up a collection among all his soldiers amounting to
two thousand drachmas, he sent it to Jerusalem to provide for a sin offering.
This was an excellent and noble action, which he did on the account of the
resurrection of the dead, for if he were not expecting the fallen to rise again it
would have been useless and foolish to pray for the dead. But since he had in
mind the wonderful reward that awaits those who die a pious death, his purpose
was holy and devout. This is why he had a sacrifice of atonement offered, to
free the dead from their sin.

This is the Word of the Lord. It is in this spirit that we now pray our first
decade for our Dear, N.________

SONG: MAHIWAGA

SECOND DECADE
St. Paul teaches us in this second reading that man is created for eternal
never ending life. A Reading from the First letter of Paul to the Thessalonians: (1
Thes 4, 13-14, 17-18)

Brothers and sisters, we want you to be certain about those who sleep in
death, so that you will not be sad like those who have no hope. We believe that
Jesus died and rose again, and that it will be the same for those died as Christian.
God will bring him to life with Jesus. And so we shall stay forever with the Lord.
Console one another, then with this message.

This is the word of the Lord. In our second decade, let us give thanks to God
that He had created man for death but for eternal life. We thank God especially
that our beloved deceased is truly alive, no longer among us here but in the
presence of the Lord Himself.

Di mapapawi kalian pa man
Sa pusot diwa tayos isa lamang Sikapin sa ating pagtungo
Kahit na tayo ay magkawalay Ipamalita sa buong mundo
