General Note:
All civil, mechanical, electrical and other miscellaneous
work items mentioned here-in-after for all project
facilities and units shall include supply, delivery
installation, adjustment, testing commissioning, as built
drawings and all required materials, equipment and
workmanship to execute the items of construction in
accordance with the specifications, drawings, and
engineer instructions, complete in place and ready for
handing over. Measurements and payment shall be
described in the relevant documents. Prices must
include shop drawings for all works that should be
submitted by the contractor and to be approved by the
engineer before starting works.

Mobilization
This item should include site office for the use of the
Engineer's and Employer's staffs with the necessary
facilities, furniture, computers, printers, photocopier, fax
machine, as described in the specifications, equipment,
supplies, maintenance of traffic, temporary works, etc,
which are required for the completion of the works as
1.01 per the specifications and safety plan. Price of this item L.S 1 0
shall include inspection of the site, identifying connection
points with existing network and connecting the new
network with the existing manholes, pipes, and existing
network. This item includes also all obligations, and
liabilities conferred
on the contractor by the bidding documents, and all tests
required for the completion of the work.

Supplying & Installation of uPVC Pipes for Sewage

Drainage System

Note: All plastic pipes are uPVC pipes even though

in some drawings they are printed PVC.
Allow for each and every expense to supply & install 12"
(300mm) diameter uPVC sewage pipes SN8 and of
minimum wall thickness of (9.2mm) "marked with quality
approved tag" and as per PWA specifications including
all necessary fittings, rubber rings, adhesive material,
any other accessories...etc, price includes but not limited
to the followings:

Trench excavation in soil or rock for pipes, removing

surplus excavation material from the site, providing soft
backfilling, laying of pipes, proper jointing, underground
supporting and hanging the existing utilities which will
face the contractor during excavation and the backfilling
with base course, leveling, compaction in layers, cutting
1.02.1 asphalt. if any, reinstatement, cleaning, testing ...etc and L.M 724 0
all other necessary works to be jointed complete, all
above should be according to the drawings,
specification, standards and under the supervision and
direction of the Engineer. For 12" (300mm) uPVC pipes
SN8 for trench excavation width 0.9m and excavation
depth not exceeding 2 m

Notes: Rate shall include but not limited to the

followings:

1 - Excavation shall cover clearing, grubbing of top soil ,

trimming bottoms and sides of trench to the depths and
widths shown on drawings, removal and disposal of all
excess material to locations acceptable to the Engineer,
Client representatives and related authorities

2 - Soft Backfilling shall cover supplying and backfilling

(surrounding the pipe) by using sea sand. This sea sand
bedding material shall be placed 150 mm below the
invert level up to 200 mm over the crown of the pipe and
for the full width of the trench. The work shall be
completed according to the drawings, specifications and
up to the satisfaction of and as directed by the Engineer.

4 - Final Backfilling and Reinstatement shall cover

backfilling and reinstating of the excavated trench by
supplying proper material depending on the type of the
trench as shown on the drawings for different types of
trenches. Rate must include supply of materials and
backfilling in layers not exceeding 250 mm measured
before compaction, watered and compacted to 95% of
field density ( the maximum dry density) according to
modified AASHTO density test T-180 and AASHTO test
T-191 or equivalent. (as shown in the drawings).
Compaction tests and grain size analysis must be
carried out according to PWA specifications by the
contractor and at his own expense also rate includes
supply and installation of the reinstatement materials
depending on the original existing surface depending on
situation. All works should be completed according to the
contract drawings, specifications and Engineer's
approval

5 - Laying of pipes shall cover proper jointing, cleaning,

testing, inspection by mirror, hydrostatic testing, all shall
be performed according to PWA specifications,
standards and directions of Engineer.

6 - The contractor has to submit shop drawing for all

works to be approved by the Engineer before starting
any activity.

7 - The contractor has to fix and repair any damage to

underground utilities that may be caused during work
implementation

8 - If the bottom of any excavation is taken out beyond

the limits indicated or prescribed, the resulting void shall
be backfilled and thoroughly compacted in layers of
150mm, with the following:
Selected screened gravel or sand fill if the excavation
was for a pipeline, or
Class B-150 concrete if the excavation was for a
structure or a manhole.

9 - Length of installed pipes will be measured between

the internal two wall faces of the two adjacent manholes.

1.04 Supply & Installation of Ductile Iron Force Main

Notes:
All pipes must be internally coated with aluminous
cement mortar and externally coated with metallic zinc
spray 200g/m2 covered by epoxy pore sealant. All
valves to be installed shall be ductile iron fully coated
inside and outside with epoxy and all valves shall be
suitable for sewage use, all according to specification,
drawings and as directed by the Engineer.
All pipes, fittings and valves required should be suitable
for sewage use and in accordance with the followings:

Concrete Encasement
Allow for each and every expense for pipe encasement
with concrete B250 for any diameter where the cover

Asphalt Reinstatement
Reinstatement of paved roads for the trench works
above trenches of uPVC & DI pipes and around precast

1.06.2 their original thickness and conditions, considering that L.M 10000 0
the minimum thickness of asphalt layer shall be 5cm
after compaction, price to include prime coat at the rate
of 1kg/m2, all to be according to tender documents and
directions of Engineer.

Thrust Blocks
Allow for each and every expense to supply and install
1.06.3 B200 plain concrete for thrust blocks, over pipes where M3 15 0
ever required as per drawings and as directed by
Engineer.

Concrete Reinstatement
Allow for each and every expense for 10 cm thickness
