MARKETING 2

1. Draw a parallel between wholesalers and retailers.

Similarities and differences. Provide examples.

The terms wholesale and retail themselves explain the difference.

Wholesale means selling in large quantities and retail means selling in
small quantities.

Wholesalers
They are connecting links between the manufacturers and the retailers.
They purchase goods in large quantities from the manufacturers.
They deal in limited number of products.
They need more capital to start their business.
The display of goods and decoration of premises is not necessary for
them.
Their business operations extend to different cities and places.
They do not directly deal with the customers.
They do not extend free home delivery and after sales services.
They provide more credit facilities to retailers.
They may not possess expert knowledge regarding selling techniques.
They enjoy the economies of bulk buying, freights and price etc.
They are not usually classified in different types.
Their services can be dispensed with or can be eliminated from the chain
of distribution.

retailers.

eliminated.

2. Define a type of wholesalers and provide an example of this

type.

Mai-order wholesalers

One of the four types of limited-service wholesalers who use catalogs instead of
sales forces to sell products to retail, industrial and institutional buyers (cosmetics,
specialty foods, hardware, sporting goods, business and office supplies, automotive
parts).

A mail order wholesaler may be your best bet if you are looking for something
that isnt readily available in brick and mortar stores, of if you are looking for a
particular item that is very hard to find. Thousands of mail order and Internet

wholesalers can get the product you need and deliver it straight to you. Remember
also that drop shipping is an option if you dont have the means or the space to
warehouse a large inventory of items. Drop shipper wholesalers are easy to find
online. You can select the items youre interested in selling, list them on your own
website or on an e-commerce site like eBay, and have the wholesaler ship it direct
to your customer, so that you never have to handle the inventory.

3. Translate into English: "Daca as fi stiut ca vei pleca in Anglia, ti-

as fi dat adresa unor prieteni pentru a-I vizita cand vei ajunge
acolo."

If I had known that you would go to England I would have given you the
adress of some friends to visit them when you got there.

Adidas AG is a German multinational corporation that designs and manufactures

sports shoes, clothing and accessories. The company is based
in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, Germany. It is the holding company for the Adidas
Group, which consists of the Reebok sportswear company, TaylorMade-
Adidas golf company (including Ashworth), Rockport, and 9.1% of FC Bayern
Munich. Besides sports footwear, Adidas also produces other products such as
bags, shirts, watches, eyewear and other sports and clothing-related goods. Adidas
is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and the second biggest in the
world, after Nike.

Adidas was founded on 18 August, 1949 by Adolf Dassler, following a family

feud at the Gebrder Dassler Schuhfabrik company between him and his older
brother Rudolf. Rudolf had earlier established Puma, which quickly became the
business rival of Adidas. Both the Adidas and Puma companies still remain based
in Herzogenaurach, Germany to this day.

The company's clothing and shoe designs typically feature three parallel bars, and
the same motif is incorporated into Adidas's current official logo.

Adidas also designs and makes slide-style sandals, watches, eyewear,

bags, baseball caps, and socks. As well, Adidas has a branded range of male and
female deodorants, perfumes, aftershave and lotions.

"Adidas is all in" is the current global marketing strategy slogan for Adidas. The
slogan aims to tie all brands and labels together, presenting a unified image to
consumers interested in sports, fashion, street, music and pop culture. There
appears to be connection with the phrase "all-in" meaning "exhausted" in some
English speaking nations.

"Impossible is Nothing" was the previous mainstream marketing slogan for Adidas.
