DALCC ELECTIONS TIMELINE AND RULES 2017 AGM is on Tuesday

2 14 Jan Chairperson, with approval of Exec Com, appoints a

MONTHS committee to nominate candidates
PRIOR TO ExCom decides whether to vote by either 1) mail
AGM ballot or 2) by vote in person or by proxy at the
AGM and also to decide the election rules.
Chair and Vice Chair must be of opposite gender.
30 days 14 February Nominations and Elections Committee announces
prior to nominees for offices

14 days 1 March Deadline for members not selected by the Noms

If the vote is by mail/email/web ballot there are no
nominations from the floor except if there are no
candidates for an office.
If the vote is by mail/email/web ballot then ballots
received prior to the meeting shall be kept
unopened and delivered to tellers appointed at the
meeting to count the votes.
At the 14 March If the vote is by ballots cast at the AGM in person or
AGM by proxy then nominations may be made from the
floor by a call from the Nominations and Elections
Committee Chair.
Tellers are appointed to count the votes.
Nominations and Elections Committee Chair runs
the elections in this order: Chair, Vice Chair,
Secretary-Treasurer, Legal Counsel, Members At
Large (3, elected one at a time).
Officers are elected by a majority of votes.
Nominees running unopposed may be elected by
assent (requiring no balloting).
Ties will be settled by either a further ballot or a
coin-flip, at the call of the Nominations Committee
Chairperson. The Nominations Committee
Chairperson may elect to give the members a vote
on how to resolve ties.
Election results will be announced by the Secretary-
Treasurer to the membership within 24 hours of the
election.
Challenges must be lodged within 48 hours of the
announcement of the AGM, after which the results
will be certified.
Certified election results will be delivered to the
International Secretary of Democrats Abroad within
24 hours of the certification.
