2 period: introducing the 2 unit.

Date: June, 9th. 2010. Level: 7º

Skill: oral.

Expected Outcomes: the students recognize general aspect about the topic “sports”.

Resources: whiteboard- notebooks.

Introduction 5 min. - ask students to stay in their seats.


-The teacher makes some arrangements with the student that are
pending with their presentations.

Core of the class


Pre- stage 10 min. - The teacher asks students if they like sports. And if so what
sports do they like.
- Students participate in a sort of brainstorm providing several
different answers.

While- Stage 15 min. - Then, the teacher explains to the class that the next unit is about
sports, and explains about the evaluation’s form, etc.
- She asks to the class to write down a list of several chunks of
language that they considered useful to prepare their final work of
this unit.
All the girls work together and all the boys too. They have 15
minutes to make the list.

Post-stage 10 min. Students have to explain what have they write down on their lists.

They give the sheet of paper with the list to the teacher.
Closing 5 min The class has finished.

1st period: making the presentation of “My best friend” (the missing ones).
2nd period: 2nd unit: crossword about sports.

Expected Outcomes: the students recognize names of sports, using their previous knowledge.

Core of the class 10 min. -The teacher explains that first of all the students who are pending

are going to continue with another activity. She repeats the
general instruction for this activity (which was mentioned the last
class). The teacher allows some students to present at the end of
the class (just special cases).
15 min. - The class listen respectfully the presentations. While the teacher
takes notes of that.

5 min. - The presentations finish and the teacher say that at the end of the
class she will give the grades and feedbacks. She gives to the
students a handout with a crossword related with sports. The
students have to complete it by themselves. Then, it will be
checked on the whiteboard.
15 min. - The students work on the crossword, making questions to the
teacher. She goes around the classroom, making sure that all

5 min. - The teacher asks some students to write down on the whiteboard
the right words of the crossword. She corrects when it’s

-The student recognizes adjectives to describe sports.
- The student can transfer rules of comparatives adjectives to create their own sentences.

TIME COMMENTS

Introduction 5 min. - Greetings- call the row- ask students to go back to their seats-etc

- The teacher gives students a handout with a word search related to sports.
They have to work on that while the teacher draws a sort of diagram on the
whiteboard.

- After a couple of minutes the teacher checks if the students have finished

She ask the students to look at the whiteboard, actually there is drawing there,
which contains the words from, to, opposite, and in front of implicitly so
students have to discover that words and infer the meaning of them by the
drawing.

PRESENT 10 min. - The teacher ask students to read aloud the words (prepositions) that they have
found on the drawing, and say what is the meaning of them.

PRACTISE 5 min. - Students have to transfer the prepositions to other examples. They give them
to the teacher and she write them on the whiteboard

CREATE 30 min. - The students have to create sort of sentences for they group work related to
soccer (boys) or aerobics (girls).

- The teacher provides them feedback.


Closing 10 min. - She says to the class that next class they are going to include more
prepositions in their work.
- The class has finished.

-The student transfer prepositions of movement a place to a hypothetic situation.

Resources: Whiteboard – picture of a bus – notebooks.


TIME COMMENTS

Introduction 5 min. - Greetings- call the row- ask students to go back to their seats-etc

- The teacher asks the students to imagine they are going to travel somewhere.
HOOK They have to choose a place.
20 min.
Then, the teacher asks them to tell what they have to do for doing this travel.
And she recast part of what they students say in English.

- The teacher writes down on the whiteboard some new prepositions in


English on the left side, and on the right side the meaning in Spanish. But in
different order.
15 min.
PRESENT Now, students have to say what they do when travelling but now trying to use
those prepositions. The teacher gives feedback and recast what they say in
order to help them.
For example: we go along the road.
The prepositions presented are: along, across, behind, near, up, down.

- Students have to do the same but now taking turns, one student do the first
PRACTISE 25 min. part, then the second, and so on.
- Then, they have to use a picture of a bus to refer about the position of the
passengers in the bus.

CREATE 15 min. - The students have to work in their groups and continue creating their
assigned work.

- The teacher checks each group’s sentences and provides them the
appropriate feedback.
Closing 10 min.
- The teacher explains to the group that next week they are supposed to
present their works.
- The class has finishes.

2 periods: completing and finishing the sport workshop.

Date: June, 30th. 2010. Level: 7º

Expected Outcomes:
- Students use previous knowledge to identify new prepositions.
-The student transfer prepositions of movement to different context, for their workshops.

Resources: whiteboard- notebooks – dictionaries.

Introduction 10 min. - Greetings- call the row- ask students to go back to their seats-etc
- The teacher checks what the students have written about their
workshops.
Core of the class
Pre- stage 15 min. -The teacher writes down all the prepositions learnt in classes on the
whiteboard. She put them in different order, without the meaning.
- And she asks to the class how they learnt that prepositions, students
should participate giving the answer and saying what the meaning of
each preposition is.
- The teacher gives the instruction for this class which consists on
completing the workshop; the idea is that students use all the preposition
(or at least 8 of them) in their workshop, all the students have to
collaborate in the task.
It has to be delivered this class.

Students work in group, incorporating the prepositions to their


While- Stage 45 min. workshop. While the teacher goes around the classroom assessing them
to use the preposition in the appropriate context.
Students can practice what they are planning to perform the following
class orally, using all the classroom and the playground.

Students have to present to the teacher the sheet with their written work.
Post-stage 15 min. The teacher checks it, provides them the appropriate feedback. And
gives some pieces of advice for the performance for the next class.

If the groups have already received the feedback of their work can leave
the classroom.

2 periods: performing the sport workshop.

Date: July, 1st. 2010. Level: 7º

Skill: Writing.
Expected Outcomes:
- Students demonstrate what they have learnt in this unit, using physical and verbal expressions.

Resources: classroom – extra accessories (each group with different ones).

Time Comments

Introduction 10 min. - Greetings- call the row- ask students to go back to their seats-etc
The teacher asks the students if they are ready to present, if they have
the accessories for their performance, etc.

Core of the class


Pre- stage 40 min. - The teacher makes the last revision to the written part of the
workshops. She also checks the pronunciation with the groups.
- The teacher gives the students some minutes to practice for their
performance.
While the groups are practicing for their performance, the teacher
prepares her camera to take pictures when presenting the performance.

Students get prepared to present, they change their clothes if it is

- While boys are presenting, the girls keep outside the classroom
practicing their performance.
- Then, when boys are finished, the girls come into the classroom and
the boys go outside. The girls do their performance while the boys are
