services.Contractsmayormaynotrequireclientstopurchaseorsubsidizestorageandmaterialhandlingequipment.

Coproduct
thetermcoproductisusedtodescribemultipleitemsthatareproducedsimultaneouslyduringaproductionrun.
Coproductsareoftenusedtoincreaseyieldsincuttingoperations,suchasdiecuttingorsawing,whenitisfoundthat
scrapcanbereducedbycombiningmultiplesizedproductsinasingleproductionrun.Coproductsarealsousedto
reducethefrequencyofmachinesetupsrequiredinthesesametypesofoperations.Coproducts,alsoknownas
byproducts,arealsocommoninprocessmanufacturingsuchasinchemicalplants.Althoughtheconceptof
coproductsisfairlysimple,theprogramminglogicrequiredtoprovideforplanningandprocessingofcoproductsisvery
complicatedandmostofftheshelfmanufacturingsoftwarewillhaveproblemswithcoproductprocessing.

Costofgoodssold
accountingtermusedtodescribethetotalvalue(cost)ofproductssoldduringaspecifictimeperiod.Since
inventoryisanasset,itisnotexpensedwhenitispurchasedorproduced.Itinsteadgoesintoanassetaccount
(usuallycalledInventory).Whenproductissold,thevalueoftheproduct(thecost,notthesellprice)ismovedform
theassetaccounttoanexpenseaccountcalledcostofgoodssoldorCOGS.COGSappearsontheprofitandloss
statementandisalsousedforcalculatinginventoryturns.
Countingscale
aspecialscaleusedtodeterminequantities(ratherthanjustweight).Thebasicscalefunctionisthesameasother
typesofscales,howeveracountingscalewillhavefunctionalitytocalculateapieceweightbasedonasampleand
thenusethatpieceweighttocountproductbasedontotalweight.Thebasicprocesswithacountingscaleistoplace
anemptycontaineronthescale,pressthetarebuttontozerooutthescale,countoutasampleandplaceitinthe
container,tellthescalethesizeofthesample,countanothersampletoverifyaccuracy,thendumptherestofthe

Crossbeltsorter
conveyorsortingsystemthatusesaseriesofdevices(carriers)mountedonaconveyortosortmaterials.Each
devicehasasmallbeltconveyormountedontopofitthatrunsperpendiculartothedirectionofthemainconveyor.
Whenitarrivesatasortpoint,theconveyoronthecarrierwillspin,movingthematerialstothesideofthemain
conveyor(usuallyontoanotherconveyor,droppingdownachute,orintoacontainer).
Crossdocking
initspurestformcrossdockingistheactionofunloadingmaterialsfromanincomingtrailerorrailcarand
