# NOTES:

1. Many plugins will not work/load w/out propper hardware.
ie.Oil Filter requires 64-bit, OpenCL 1.1 and a compatible video card.
Photoshop may display an alert about plugins not loading.
This can be safely ignored as this is due to your hardware.

-filter-greyed-out
2. Video Editing requires Windows x64 (64-bit)

# BEST PRACTICE:
################
1. DO NOT USE WHILE OTHER ADOBE PRODUCTS ARE RUNNING !
2. Empty: PhotoshopPortable\Data\Media Cache\Media Cache Files\*.*
- this folder has the potential to balloon in size.
3. Empty: PhotoshopPortable\Data\CameraRaw Cache\*.*
- this folder also has the potential to blow up in size.

# DiRECTORiES OR FiLES TO PRESERVE:
###################################
http://portableapps.com/manuals/PortableApps.comLauncher/ref/paf/installer.html
If there are any directories or files you'd like to preserve during upgrades or
reinstalls:
Add in installer.ini located: PhotoshopPortable\App\AppInfo
[NOTE]: Presets are preserved by default.. refer to installer.ini.
Files example:
[FilesToPreserve]
PreserveFile1=App\Photoshop\file
Directories example:
[DirectoriesToPreserve]
PreserveDirectory1=App\Photoshop\Presets
PreserveDirectory2=App\Photoshop64\Presets
In addition, installer.ini settings are preserved.
#####################
# NETWORK / UNC PATH:
#####################
Running PhotoshopPortable from a Network with UAC enabled, causes many features
to fail. ie. Quick Export, Export as, and many other features.
The only remedy is to disable UAC.
- Windows 8.0 and newer must disable UAC in the registry.
For best experience, run PhotoshopPortable from a local path.
###########
# FEATURES:
###########
If you're not familiar with PortableApps.com Format..
i suggest you researching a bit..
PortableApps.com Format or PAF, runs naturally, as if installed.
Nothing is virtualized.
This is how it's able to achieve tremendous performance.
I've purposely trimmed down the features to what is absolutely necessary
to prevent performance degradation.
Most features are located in $COMMONFILES.
Which reflects: PhotoshopPortable\Data\CommonFiles
To re-enable a missing feature, such as Color..
- ensure PhotoshopPortable has been launched atleast once.
- if not.. simply launch & exit.
- then copy desired features into: PhotoshopPortable\Data\CommonFiles\..
You'll have to obtain the files yourself.
This applies to most features.
#############
# EXTENSIONS:
#############
Extensions are supported.
Simply add here: ..\App\Photoshop\Required\CEP\Extensions
Instead of using Extensions Manager, use 7-Zip to unpack .zxp.
Sometimes.. it takes a bit of trial & error to figure out.
Also.. since Photoshop CC 2014, Flash has been deprecated for Extensions.
Which many Extensions use.
ie. Cut & Slice me is a Flash Extension and is currently incompatible.
Notes:
- manually backup Extensions before upgrading or re-installing.
- for best extraction results, select "Eliminate duplication of root folder".
####################################
# CAMERARAW: CAMERA & LENS PROFILES:
####################################
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/using/correct-lens-distortions-camera-raw
.html
These are used for camera & lens corrections.
If you don't know what these are.. you have no need for them.
To add more.. simply copy desired profile(s) into: ..\Data\CameraRaw\..
An example has been included.. simply follow the example.
########
# FONTS:
########
Photoshop Portable does support additional fonts.
These fonts are only available during runtime, and are cleaned up when closed.
This avoids having to install into the Operating System:
- which degrades performance.
- and avoids common font corruption errors.
Supported font types: .fon, .fnt, .ttf, .ttc, .fot, .otf, .mmm, .pfb, .pfm.
No installation required.. simply add desired fonts into: ..\Data\Fonts
- before exiting, close any application(s) that may have font(s) open.
###############
# ASSOCiATiONS:
###############
I've made it super easy to add associations.
1. Navigate to: PhotoshopPortable\App\AppInfo\Launcher
2. Open PhotoshopPortable.ini with Notepad or any text editor
3. Scroll down to: [Associations]
4. Simply add desired assocation underneath in numerial sequential order.
ie.
[Associations]
1=bmp
2=jpg
3=jpeg
4=gif
5=png
6=eps
7=tif
psd and psb are associated by default.
entries are case sensitive
Supported filetypes:
3ds, 3fr, 8ba, 8bc, 8be, 8bf, 8bi, 8bp, 8bs, 8bx, 8by, 8li, abr, acb, acf, aco,
act, acv, ado, ahs, ahu, alv, amp, ams, api, apl, ase, asl, asp, asr, ast, asv,
atf, atn, ava, axt, blw, bmp, cha, cin, cr2, crw, csh, dae, dcp, dcpr, dcr, dng,
eap, eps, erf, exr, fff, ffo, fl3, fxg, gif, grd, hdr, IIQ, iros, irs, jp2, jpg,
jpeg, jpx, kbsc, kmz, kys, mef, mfw, mnu, mos, mrw, mtl, nef, nrw, obj, orf,
p3l, p3m, p3r, pat, pbm, pcd, pcx, pdd, pdf, pdp, pef, ple, pmg, png, psb, psd,
psdx, psf, psp, pxr, raf, raw, rwl, sct, shc, shh, srf, srw, sta, tga, tif,
tiff, tpl, u3d, wbmp, x3f.
notes:
Adding too many can impact launch time.
Windows 8.0 can be problematic if UAC is enabled.
- Double-click file > select Photoshop from list
this is due to Win8.0's implementation of a hash id for associations
SendTo shortcut is also available.
Great for unassociated but supported filetypes.
If you're experiencing problems w/association,
you may want to consider SendTo.

# DIRECTORIES:
##############
http://portableapps.com/manuals/PortableApps.comLauncher/ref/launcher.ini/filesy
stem.html#directoriesmove
Because Adobe has many products, all of which use the same directories, registry
keys, and file names.. the potential for collision is great.
Thus.. i've implemented sub-directories vs. directories.
ie. instead of backing up $APPDATA\Adobe
- i back up $APPDATA\Adobe\Photoshop, etc.
This is ideal..
But has it's pitfalls.
ie. i need to know all possible sub-directories that will be created.
- this is very hard unless Adobe Developers share their code (highly unlikely)
- the next best thing is to manually go through and use as many features as
possible to see what is created.
- this is exactly what i've done.. but im sure i've missed something.
Now.. what can you do?
Simply keep an eye on $APPDATA and $LOCALAPPDATA after usage.
If there are any sub-directories left behind..
simply add to Launcher under [DirectoriesMove].
ie. if a sub-directory is left behind in $APPDATA, simply add:
[DirectoriesMove]
AppData\**SUB-DIRECTORY**=%APPDATA%\Adobe\**SUB-DIRECTORY**
that's it.. from now on..
PhotoshopPortable will backup & restore that particular sub-directory.
