HowhaveIdevelopedthiscompetencyduringthiscourseorprofessionalseminar/fieldexperience?

During this second field experience, I have developed this competency appropriately as I have modeled

correct
grammar and syntax in all teaching situations; both orally and when writing. In all times where I

was teaching or helping a student, I assured that I had used the correct grammar, as well as correcting
students' grammar when necessary. There were times in which I have used the inappropriate
the

capitalization when writing on the smart board, but I had quickly realized this mistake, and corrected it in

front

of the students, explaining why I was doing so. I had also put in an effort to reinforce correct syntax
and
grammar, as it paralleled my cooperating teacher's objectives.
I strongly feel that I have developed this competency further compared to my first field experience as I

have
a greater understanding of the English grammar, and have greater ease when expressing myself
using
correct grammar. Since my first field experience, I have taken a course, EDSL 350, that allowed
me to further understand English grammar. Due to this class, I was able to successfully communicate

clearly and appropriately during my second field experience.

HowhaveIdevelopedthiscompetencyduringthiscourseorprofessionalseminar/fieldexperience?

When developing lesson plans for this second field experience, I had taken into consideration the

developmental
levels of all students, assuring that my lessons allowed students to take part in meaningful

learning. In doing so, I believe that I have strongly developed this competency because of my abilities to

gauge the students' academic and developmental levels, and adapting my lessons around their skills. I

varied my lessons from individual work, to small team work as I wanted students to develop their

autonomy, as well as their social skills and abilities to work in small teams. I encountered several

occasions
where students had a small conflict amongst themselves that usually involved one student
refusing to comply with another due to a simple reason, and I believe that I intervened in an appropriate

manner.
Whenever students had a conflict based on academic work, or even during recess, I had always
intervened,
and explained why I was solving the problem in such a manner. By doing so, I took part in a

learning situation where students had a conflict, and I provided them with a solution in which they

understood, and learned from.

HowhaveIdevelopedthiscompetencyduringthiscourseorprofessionalseminar/fieldexperience?

Throughout the entire duration of this second field experience, I was able to maintain the classroom rules

and objectives. I taught with a calm, and caring attitude that allowed students to participate in meaningful

learning. I had observed the ways in which my cooperating teacher dealt with inappropriate behaviour,
and

mirrored her strategies whenever necessary. I had always made an effort to remind students to be

quiet when in the hallways, to raise their hands when they have a question or comment, and to remain

respectful,

and other rules from this classroom. Whenever students were acting inappropriately, I would
call
on those students and explain, and remind them that those behaviours were unacceptable, and why.
Thus, I believe that I have developed this competency very well as I was able to maintain the same

classroom
expectations of my cooperating teacher, and I was able to adopt these rules with ease when
teaching.

I have developed this competency adequately as I have developed most of my lesson plans in

collaboration
with my cooperating teacher, and at times, with the other cycle one teacher. I have

cooperated with the students in the same manner as both of the cycle one teachers who taught the same

students, and I feel that I mirrored their class objectives rather well. I have collaborated with both cycle

teachers when creating lessons to help students master their required end of cycle competencies.
one

However, due to time constraints, I was not able to help build consensus among the members of the

teaching
team. I did however, attend a board meeting where members of the staff discussed deadlines,
approvals of programs, report cards, and field trips; but I did not participate.

I believe that I have developed this competency more during this field experience compared to my first
field

experience because I was able to collaborate with, and teach alongside the teaching team. I was

also able to contribute more to the ideas of the teaching team in an effective manner as I offered my

ideas and suggestions whenever possible.

HowhaveIdevelopedthiscompetencyduringthiscourseorprofessionalseminar/fieldexperience?

I have developed this competency thoroughly as I often engaged in professional dialogs with both my

supervisor
and cooperating teacher after every lesson. I had discussed what went well, and what did not

go well with my cooperating teacher and supervisor often. I had always sought feedback on my

pedagogical choices, and the way I presented the lessons. I believe that I have developed this

competency well during this field experience because although I was confident with some of my lessons, I

wanted my cooperating teacher and my supervisor to pinpoint areas in which I needed to work on. I feel

that
my professional development has been an ongoing process as I am always seeking feedback and
advice
to grow professionally. Through these discussions, I understand my cooperating teacher's and

supervisor's
feedback, and I use it to strengthen my professional development. I tend to research the
topics
that are featured in the lessons so that I can become a reliable source of information when

teaching students. I also identified my strengths and limitations when discussing my lessons and

pedagogy with my cooperating teacher and supervisor, and I believe that this has helped me grow

professionally as I know that I am not perfect, and still have areas to work on.

I have developed this competency thoroughly as I have taught the class in a fair, and calm manner. I was
always
firm, but understanding when I was teaching. I respected my cooperating teacher and her

classroom rules, and adopted these rules to parallel her classroom objectives. I respected the students

and
their abilities, and managed the class in a manner that students can comprehend. If a problem were
to arise, I would solve the problem in a manner that respects all the students involved, and in a manner

that
students can understand through my explanations. I never solved a problem in an authoritarian
manner, and without any explanations; I had always provided my students with thorough explanations as
to why I was solving the problem in that manner. I modeled appropriate moral behaviour, and I did not
discriminate against any students, or members of the teaching team. I had always made an effort to
balance my teaching style in such a manner that is firm and has clear rules, but is also responsive to the

students' emotions and needs.
I have always been professional when dealing with the staff members and students, and I have been

respectful throughout my field experience.
