Muslim leaders fault KEMRI study giving
miraa clean bill of health
M
uslims leaders have sharply criti-
cized findings of a new study by
researchers indicating that the
narcotic substance miraa is not harmful
and has no side effects.
The study conducted by the Kenya Medi-
cal Research Institute (KEMRI) outlined
that miraa is not dangerous as has been
presumed by many people and that those
who chew miraa are less likely to be obese
due to the suppressed appetite for food.
The multi-million research funded by the
government and released last week dur-
ing the 7th Kenya Medical Research Insti-
tute (KEMRI) Annual Scientific and Health
Conference, established that those using
the herb are also less likely to develop
heart complications.
The findings on the stimulant are contrary
to those claimed by the US, France and
UK among other countries where miraa is
banned over adverse health effects on us-
ers.

Speaking to The Friday Bulletin Umma Uni-
versity Vice chancellor Prof. Muhammad
Karama faulted the outcome of the research
saying the results contradict all the other re-
searches undertaken on the adverse effects
of chewing miraa.
He said several studies in and outside the
country have proved that consumption of
miraa is not only hazardous to ones oral
health but also the moral and social life of
the consumer.
The academician who is a former research-
er at KEMRI said the study was biased and
influenced by Meru miraa lobby groups to
counter negative effects of miraa ban by
European states. The study was biased
and favours miraa farmers at the expense
of the consumers who are the majority he
said.
He pointed out that wrong methods were
applied during the study where researchers
concentrated on miraa farmers and areas
where the leafy twigs are grown ignoring
ya indicate that the land which the City Park
Mosque is sitting on is legally owned by the
Committee.
The inquiry was to determine the case be-
tween Jamia Mosque and the Kenya Ur-
ban Roads Authority (KURA) after the lat-
ter issued a notice to demolish City Park
Mosque in 2015 claiming the mosque lies
on the road. Jamia Mosque then responded

consumers and non- miraa farmers indi-
cating the study was meant to support mi-
raa farmers .
Prof. Karama further noted that in addi-
tion to affecting oral health, insecticides
and pesticides used in the spraying of the
plants have been found to cause cancer
among miraa consumers.
He called on Muslims to stand firm and
speak against consumption of miraa in the
community to protect families from destruc-
tion adding that Muslim youth and families
have borne the brunt of miraa saying hun-
dreds of families have been decimated by
the consumption of the stimulant which is
the main cash crop in Meru County.
This is a high time for Muslims to strength-
en measures that oppose the consumption
of miraa at all cost he added.
The negative effects of miraa are evident
for all too see particularly in Muslims domi-

Renowned South African scholar visits Kenya
South African Muslim scholar Sheikh Sulei-
man Moola visited the country last week
for a two-day lecture tour.
The scholar arrived on Friday and gave out
lectures on topical Islamic matters at vari-
ous mosques within Nairobi.
On Friday Sheikh Suleiman delivered the
Friday Khutba (sermon) at Jamia Mosque
Nairobi where he also led the Jumuah
prayers.
In his sermon to thousands of worshippers
Sheikh Suleiman urged the Muslim ummah
to rise up to the occasion and be steadfast
on the myriad issues affecting the Muslim
ummah globally.
He said every Muslims should strive to em-
ulate Sayyidna Abu Bakr the companion of
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him)
by imbibing the habit of sacrifice and good
morals in the society.
In a captivating Khutbah, Sheikh Suleiman
called on Muslims to strive to be a source
of blessing and relief to mankind wherever
they find themselves stressing that Mus-

instances where men have abdicated fam-
ily responsibilities, young boys dropping
out of schools not to mention the high rates
of divorce in our community, he told the
Friday Bulletin on Wednesday.
On his part, the national chairman of
Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya
(CIPK) Sheikh Abdalla Ateka described the
chewable leafy substance as harmful stim-
ulant unfit for human consumption.
He said miraa consumption has led to eco-
nomic and social destruction of thousands
of Kenyans and placing it on the list of nar-
cotic drugs would help save many people
from the dangerous effects of addiction.
Miraa is not only a drug but it causes more
problem like family break-ups, school drop-
outs and laziness among users, Sheikh
Ateka said.
He said the miraa which is estimated to
cost users in the predominantly Muslim
areas more than Sh4 billion annually, has
economically and socially broken down
the society leaving tails of broken families,
poor education, worsening health condi-
tions among other adverse societal effects.
Ateka further stated that the government
should heed the lamentations of commu-
nities being torn apart by miraa and inter-
vene to have it banned.
The CIPK chair pointed out that billions of
shillings are used annually on miraa and
these funds can be channeled in other pro-
ductive programmes to improve the lives of
people.
He Ateka stressed that Islam prohibited
all things which intoxicated the mind and
told Muslims to desist from consuming the
substance which is classified as haram ac-
cording to Islamic principles.
In his remarks Sheikh Abdullatif Abdulka-
rim a member of Kenya Council of Imams
and Ulamaa (KCIU) said global research-

that Jamia Mosque is the legal and rightful
owner of the land, said Ahmed Abdinassir
from Rasheed, Rage and Nassir Advocates
during the inquiry at Muthaiga assistant
Chiefs office in Parklands.
The NLC said while it is committed to ad-
dressing the matter in the best interest of all
parties, the commission is tasked to com-
pulsorily acquire the land for KURA to pave
way for the construction of road from Limuru
Road to join Thika Super Highway. The road
is part of the Nairobi Eastern Missing Link
roads which is expected to reduce conges-
tion in the city.
All parties affected by the road project will
make further submissions to NLC commis-
sioners in a meeting to be convened next
week.
On Friday evening the Sheikh gave a lec-
ture at Masjid Zuber in Pangani area and
on Saturday evening Sheikh Suleiman
was hosted at Parklands mosque where
he delivered a well-attended talk focusing
on contemporary issues facing the Muslim
society. Sheikh Suleiman is a lecturer in
Islamic sciences and has delivered sev-
eral lectures across the globe. He is an
alumnus of the Dar al Uloom Zakariyya
Islamic University of South Africa.
Pumwani Mosque gets
new officials
An interim management committee has
been appointed to run the affairs of Pum-
wani Riyadha Mosque.
The move was necessitated by an existing
leadership vacuum at the mosque which
has affected management operations at
one of the oldest mosques in Nairobi.
According to communication from the
Registrar of Societies, the nine-member
committee will also be tasked to organize
elections for new office bearers.
We wish to advise the mandate of the in-
terim management committee should be
limited to cleaning the membership, reg-
ister and thereafter organise credible elec-
tions in accordance with the societys con-
stitution and the societies Act, said Anne
Mwangi the deputy register of societies.
Members of the committee are Ambas-
sador Yusuf Nzibo who is a former com-
missioner with the Independent Electoral
and Boundary Commission (IEBC), Abbas
Gulled the secretary general of the Kenya
Red Cross Society, former Garissa district
Commissioner Salim Ali Mola and Salim
Ibrahim Nyambu who served as an admin-
istrator at Jamia Mosque, Nairobi.
Other members of the committee are
Juma Muhammad, Muhammad Said, Hus-
sein Ally, Mahmoud Karega and Khamisi
Miriti.
In the past year, at least two former offi-
cials from the mosque have disappeared
under unexplained circumstances while
several others have resigned leading to a
leadership vacuum which has left opera-
tions of the mosque at a near standstill.

Kindness to Parents: Duty and devotion
If you type the words, kindness to parents
in Google six of the first ten results are Is-
lamic articles stressing the importance of
being dutiful and kind to parents. Why is
this so? Islam is a religion that stresses
the qualities of mercy, tolerance and re-
spect. Allah has ordained the good treat-
ment of parents and warned us against
treating them with disrespect. There are
several verses in the Quran where kind-
ness to parents is even coupled with the
most important aspect of Islam, worship-
ping Allah alone. This indicates that being
kind to parents, honouring and respecting
them, is extremely important in the way of
life that is Islam.
And your Lord has decreed that you wor-
ship none but Him. And that you be duti-
ful to your parents. If one of them or both
of them attain old age in your life, say not
to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at
them but address them in terms of honour.
(Quran 17:23)
No word of disrespect should be uttered
toward a parent, nor even a look of resent-
ment or contempt. Honouring parents can
be considered a form of worship if the in-
tention is to please Almighty Allah by re-
specting His commands.
Allah continues this verse by reminding us
that parents are deserving of kindness be-
cause they raised their children with gen-
tleness and often made great sacrifices for
their wellbeing. His use of the word wing
invokes the image of a mother bird ten-
derly shielding her young and calls to mind
the gentleness that parents have for their
children. And lower unto them the wing
of submission and humility through mercy,
and say: My Lord! Bestow on them Your
Mercy as they did bring me up when I was
small. (Quran 17:24)
The love and mercy that emanates from
the Most Merciful Allah is manifest in the
kind treatment existing between parents
and their children. Allah clearly prohibits
the bad treatment of parents, and in anoth-
er verse of the Quran He enjoins on us the
need to show gratitude to Him, our Creator,
as well as our parents.
Again, Allah clearly links the rights owed
to Him to the rights owed to parents. And
We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful
and good) to his parents. His mother bore
him in weakness and hardship upon weak-
ness and hardship, and his weaning is in
two years give thanks to Me and to your
parents, unto Me is the final destination.
(Quran 31:14)
Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him
reinforced the duty to be kind to parents. A
companion of the Prophet once asked him
which of the many good deeds a man can
do is the most loved by Allah. Prophet Mu-
hammad peace be upon him answered him
by saying, To offer the prayer in its proper
time. The companion then asked, And
what is next? to which Prophet Muham-
mad replied, To be good and dutiful to your
parents [Bukhari]. The responsibility to
be kind and good to parents comes right

after the greatest duty in Islam, the prayer.
More than goodness
The Arabic word that is used in the Quran
and the narrations of Prophet Muhammad
peace be upon him to denote this kindness
to parents as bir, and more often than not,
it is translated as goodness. However, as
is the case with most Arabic words, a direct
translation into English often fails to explain
the true depth of meaning. Bir does not
only mean goodness; it contains shades of
meaning that indicate kindness, compas-
sion, respect and even patience.
Islam, the way of life, encompasses all
these qualities, and Muslims must strive to
model this behaviour in all dealings, par-
ticularly in the relationship between parents
and children.
Parents care for and nurture their children
their entire lives, but at one point this duty
reverses, parents become old and feeble
and in need of this care and nurturing them-
selves. The child is obligated to care for
the parents by displaying all the qualities of
bir and knowing that the reward for this is
with Allah. The Prophet Muhammad peace
be upon him said, If anyone possesses
these three characteristics Allah will give
him an easy death and bring him into His
Paradise: gentleness towards the weak,
affection towards parents, and kindness to
slaves. [Tirmidhi]
One mans devotion
Abu Hurairah was a close companion of
Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him;
he is credited with remembering and trans-
mitting many of the Prophets sayings. The
life of Abu Hurairah also contains many
demonstrations of his love and devotion
to his mother. When he first embraced
Islam, no amount of pleading could con-
vince his mother to do the same. Weeping
and afraid, Abu Hurairah approached the
Prophet peace be upon him and begged
him to make supplication to Allah asking
that his mother be guided.
Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him
complied with this request and within a very
short period of time Abu Hurairahs mother
uttered the words, There is no Allah worthy
of worship except Allah and Muhammad is
his slave and Messenger, thus embracing
Islam.
Throughout his life, Abu Hurairah remained
kind and courteous to his mother. When-
ever he wanted to leave home, he would
stand at the door of her room and say,
Peace be on you mother, and the mercy
and blessings of Allah. She would reply,
And on you be peace, my son, and the
mercy and blessings of Allah. He would
also say, May Allah have mercy on you
as you cared for me when I was small,
to which she would reply, May Allah have
mercy on you as you delivered me from er-
ror when I was old.
Abu Hurairah always encouraged other
people to be kind and good to their parents.
One day he saw two men walking together
and enquired of the younger one, Who is
this man to you? to which the young man
replied, He is my father. Abu Hurairah
advised him by saying, Do not call him by
his name, do not walk in front of him, and
do not seat yourself before he does.
This gentleness and affection between Abu
Hurairah and his mother teaches us that
mutual respect and love is a duty. A Mus-
lim is obliged to show respect towards par-
ents even if they are non-Muslim, and the
greatest love he can show towards them is
to supplicate to Allah in hope that they will
be guided to Islam.
At the time of the Prophet peace be upon
him, many of those who embraced Islam
found that it conflicted with the beliefs and
requests of their parents, but they were
taught to be kind and to obey their parents,
except if the parents demanded they diso-
bey Allah.But if they (both) strive with you
to make you join in worship with Me oth-
ers that of which you have no knowledge,
then obey them not, but behave with them
in the world kindly, and follow the path of
him who turns to Me in repentance and in
obedience.
Then to Me will be your return, and I shall
tell you what you used to do. (Quran 31:15)

Six tips for the Muslim daughter-in-law
When a girl gets married, everything chang-
es. She leaves her home to go live with a
man she has probably not known before;
to live without her parents in a completely
new house for which she is now solely re-
sponsible. She also has a new family her
husbands parents, siblings, and relatives
whose hearts she must win.
Undoubtedly, Islam has given the in-laws
no control or claim over the wives of their
sons. There are no definite rights pre-
scribed by our religion for in-laws and the
daughter-in-law is under no compulsion to
obey their demands regarding her routine,
her activities, her housekeeping and so on.
However, all said and done, her in-laws are
people who her husband loves. And the
best way to settle into her husbands life
is to embrace his family with love and af-
fection.
Here are six things every Muslim daughter-
in-law must keep in mind when it is time for
her to begin her new life and foster cordial
relationship with her in-laws:
1- Know your rights and their rights!
Do not enter into this new phase of life with-
out knowing the rights your husband must
give you and the rights he must extend to
his own relatives. Try to read up on the re-
lationship the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa
sallam) maintained with his wives as well.
This is not only so that you can demand
what is rightfully yours, but also to make
sure that you do not transgress on others
rights. Once you know what Allah has or-
dained for them and for you, you can dis-
cuss the situation with your husband if you
are unhappy with any arrangement and in
shaa Allah it can be sorted out amicably
and within the laws of Islam.
2- Your in-laws may have more rights
than you think
Even though as in-laws they may have
no defined rights on you, your husbands
parents do hold certain rights over you. If,
for instance, you live in the same house
as your in-laws, or your houses/ portions
are in close proximity, your in-laws hold a
very important position in your life as your
neighbours.
Islam has given so many rights to neigh-
bours, that the Prophet (salallahu alayhi
wa sallam) said that he thought that they
would be included in a persons inherit-
ance! (Ibn Majah; sound) As neighbours,
extend your best behaviour towards your
in-laws. Share your food with them, invite
them over to your house, visit them often,
and take gifts if possible, for gifts increase
love between people. (al-Adab al-Mufrad)
Even if your in-laws are not your neigh-
bours, they are Muslims. Every Muslim has
certain rights upon the other, the basic of
which is the right of being said Salaam to
(giving greetings of peace)! (Muslim) The
Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) also
said that you have not believed unless
you love for your brother what you love for
yourself. (at-Tirmidhi; sound) Extend the
best for your in-laws and know that even
if they dont reciprocate, Allah will reward
you for obeying Him.

3- Get to know the homemaker who pre-
ceded you!
Do not forget that your mother-in-law is the
one who was responsible for taking care of
your husband before you came into his life.
He is used to her ways, and most impor-
tantly, hes used the food that she served
him. As you master the culinary arts in your
new kitchen, involve your mother-in-law
and ask her to help you out. It will please
her that you are taking her advice; it will
ensure she does not feel completely iso-
lated or replaced since your advent into the
family. It will also sow the seeds of a long
and fruitful relation with your husbands
mother and your childrens grandmother.
Every child is close to his mother and your
husband will undoubtedly be pleased with
you for helping him care and love for his
mother, who spent many years of difficulty
in raising him to be the man he is.
4- Dont be defensive
Sometimes, even well-meaning in-laws
cross their boundaries when they offer
advice and insist on their experience on
matters to be taken into account. In par-
ticular, their advice on housekeeping and
child-rearing leads to many ill-feelings
between the hearts of the mother-in-law
and the daughter-in-law. The best thing to
keep in mind at this time is to not be de-
fensive. Indeed, experience is the name of
the mistakes others have made, and it is a
good idea to lend an ear to what your in-
laws have to say without getting reactive
and defensive. Listen to what they have to
say, and if there is some merit or lessons to
glean from it, do so; it does not make sense
for the same family to make the same mis-
takes twice. You are not obliged to follow
what they say, but sometimes just listen-
ing to their words of advice can make them
feel satisfied and you may then make your
choices as you want.
5- You are a garment for your husband
and his family by extension
Allah says in the Quran that the husband
and wife are garments for each other (Al-
Baqarah Ayah 187). Garments not only
adorn a person, they also protect the per-
son and hide their blemishes and faults.
Your husbands family is a part of who he
is. Do not talk about them to your family
and friends, or backbite about them.
Do not share secrets of their family with
your own and do not break the trust your
husband has placed in you in accepting
you in his life, and opening up to you about
his family. Every family has skeletons in the
closet, and you must fulfil your role as be-
ing part of his family by making sure they
remain within the closet.
6- Complete the deen (religion) of your
husband
A husband and wife complete half their
deen for each other. (al-Bayhaqi); you can
help your husband complete his respon-
sibilities towards his parents by facilitat-
ing him, not hindering him. This does not
mean that you are obliged to look after his
parents for him; that is the responsibility of
your husband. But you can definitely help
him out by extending your best behaviour
and manners to them and not creating an
uncomfortable atmosphere in the house.
Try and give them more than what their
rights are willingly, expecting your reward
from Allah alone and rejoicing in the fact
that you are helping your husband achieve
his Jannah (paradise) with your help!

The forgotten blessing: Giving your parents the proper treatment they deserve

Ali, please come downstairs and eat, calls
Haleema, his mother, for the third time. In
a minute MUM, Im busy, youre so diffi-
cult.. gosh.. just leave me alone! followed
with a loud slam of the door.
How many of us are guilty of this? It may
not be the exact same words, but in some
way we have all disrespected our parents,
which they certainly do not deserve. To-
days youth have lost respect for their par-
ents who worked so hard to raise them. It
has become the norm to scream at our
mothers. We make derogatory remarks
and sometimes pretend like we cannot
hear what theyre saying.
Just take a second to step back and reflect:
the one who taught you how to walk, eat,
speak you consciously CHOOSE to ig-
nore her?
Yet a mothers unconditional love is like
no other. No matter what her daughter or
son says, she will call again. Do you know
why? Not because shes your enemy and
out to get you or because shes purposely
trying to annoy you. Its because she genu-
inely cares. She cares a whole lot, more
than anyone will ever care.
When you were younger, she went hun-
gry so you could have a full stomach. She
didnt buy anything for herself so she could
spend on your toys, just to see you smile.
She nursed you when you were ill, she took
every blame for you to hide your faults. So

You should instead be treating her like a
queen and kiss the very ground she walks
on for all the favours shes done for you.
Subhan Allah I dont want to sugarcoat
the reality because Ive seen this happen
with my own eyes, so dont take offence to
what I say. Unfortunately the truth is more
bitter than its ever been. Ive witnessed it
the endless worry and care of mothers for
their children and the childrens utter disre-
spect and disregard for their mothers be-
cause, Its different now! and Ugh, youll
never understand me.
Why? Because they were never young so
they obviously wont get you?
This injustice is done not only to mothers
but fathers too. Sometimes children be-
come so arrogant and enveloped in their
selfishness that when their parents speak
to them in their native language they clev-
erly reply with English slang terms in at-
tempt to humiliate their parents. I ask you
today to contemplate on this. With the high
status Allah has given to our parents, do
we even pay them an ounce of the value
they are worthy of?
Heres what you need to stop doing
1. Stop raising your voice
Say not to them [so much as], uff,'
[Quran: Chapter 17, Verse 23]. What a

profound statement from the Quran. We
should not even sigh heavily, let alone raise
our voices. When your parents raise their
voice at you, 9 out of 10 times they have a
very good reason to do so. Dont let shay-
tan fuel your anger and ego, causing you
to react totally inappropriately. Stop, listen,
agree and apologise thereafter rectify
your mistake, even if you think youre right
and theyre being unjust.
2. Stop ignoring them
So youre out with your friends and sud-
denly you see a call from Home. Auto-
matically you dismiss the call. Why? Dont
want to disturb the good time youre having
with your friends, or are you embarrassed
to speak to your mum and dad? Remem-
ber when you were five years old, and you
decided to throw a tantrum in the middle
of a supermarket? Dont you think you em-
barrassed your mum then? She didnt de-
cide to abandon you, did she? Because at
the end of the day, youre her child and no
matter what you do, she will never ever be
embarrassed of you.
You owe a hell of a lot to your parents. So
pick up that call, and politely answer their
questions. Better yet, call them a few times
while youre out. It wont kill you you
have countless minutes to spend on your
friends. So spare a few minutes on your
parents and spare them imagining all sorts
of horrific scenarios in their minds when
you dont pick up!
3. Stop thinking youre always right
This, for me, is one of the most loathed
characteristics. Think about it logically
how much worldly experience do your par-
ents have compared to you? Making sense
yet? When discussing things with parents,
remember never to reject their opinions.
Believe it or not, they were young once and
also made mistakes, probably the same
mistake youre about to make now, which
is why they are advising against it.
So take advantage of their knowledge,
experience and wisdom that you havent
developed yet. So next time, instead of
rolling your eyes and saying, Yeah yeah, they brought me up [when I was] small.'
whatever, listen really listen. Take it in
and act upon it. You can thank them in the
process too.
Heres what you need to start doing
1. Start showing some gratitude
It wont harm you to express a word of
gratitude once in a while. After all, they did
clean your nappies. Parents have bad
days too, theyre human too. And they
need someone to brighten up their day at
times. So be that ray of light at the end of
a long day. Say thank you, make them
smile, hug them, buy them a gift. Do this
randomly and theyll be so pleasantly sur-
prised that the smile you put on their face
wont disappear for a long time. Its not
easy being a parent, and sometimes you
think youve done it all wrong. By express-
ing some love, theyll be reassured that
they must have done something right for
you to behave in such a way.
2. Start going out of your way to please
them
If anyone on earth deserves this, its them.
Not your friends or even your spouse, its
your parents. Allah has granted them such
a high position; how can you treat them any
less? Offer to help out in any way possible.
Do extra tasks, massage their feet, drive
them around whenever they need, help
with the cooking, anything and everything
which you would never do for anyone else
and have to make an extra effort to do

3. Start making sincere dua for them
Every child knows that their parents men-
tion them in every dua. Your parents wish
nothing but well for you. They pray for your
success. Its time for you to replicate the
favour. Pray for their wellbeing, pray for
their forgiveness, pray for Jannah for them,
and most importantly thank Allah for them.
Make this a habit in every salah. Before
you mention yourself, mention them.
Make Your Parents Proud
Evidently these points are general and
there are loads more that could be men-
tioned, but Ive just listed the things I have
personally observed to be an issue. At
the end of the day, pleasing your parents
will please Allah, there is no one on earth
who deserves your mercy and compassion
more than your parents.
Do them proud. If theyre happy, youll also
be happy, and by treating them well you in-
crease your good deeds. Lastly, never ever
disrespect them. On that note, I leave you
with this verse from the Quran: And your
Lord has decreed that you not worship ex-
cept Him, and to parents, good treatment.
Whether one or both of them reach old age
[while] with you, say not to them [so much
as], uff, [i.e., an expression of irritation
or disapproval] and do not repel them but
speak to them a noble word. And lower to
them the wing of humility out of mercy and
say, My Lord, have mercy upon them as
[Quran: Chapter 17, Verses 23-24]
May Allah allow us to be kind, compassion-
ate and caring towards our parents and
earn their love, not their anger.

Calls have been made for Muslim religious and
community leaders in Rift Valley to unite and

ment and national issues for progress.
The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims
(SUPKEM) national deputy secretary general
Hassan Ole Naado said Muslim leaders should
take up a more proactive role in addressing
Muslim concerns.
We are also stakeholders in this country and
we need to also speak on issues which affect
all Kenyans. This is our responsibility to the
country and the Muslim community, he said.

KDF bus shooting
condemned
Two North Eastern parliamentarians have
condemned the alleged shooting of a Wa-
jir bus by members of the Kenya Defense
Forces.
On Saturday, KDF soldiers opened fire at
the bus belonging to Sagal Bus Company,
killing one passenger on the spot and in-
juring others along the Dadajabula and
Sarif, Garissa road.
The deceased passenger was identified
as Abdifatah Ali Meero, the conductor of
the bus. The soldiers were also reported
to have beaten up the passengers after
the shooting incident.

the management committee citing irregu-

The mosque is also involved in another

successfully blocked the reconstruction of
