Project One: Home Security

Abstract: The goal of this project is to use a magnetometer as part of an intruder detection
system. The magnetometer is used to measure the strength of a magnet mounted on a door. When
the door is opened, the field strength measurements significantly change. The change activates
the piezo buzzer by instructing it to emit a high-pitched alarm sound to notify of a possible
intruder.

Project Two: Teaching Tool

Abstract: The goal of this project is to use the magnetometer as an educational tool for students
learning about magnetic fields. Students can use the magnetometer readings to visualize the field
of a magnet or magnet array. They will use graph paper to define the spatial arrangement of the
sensor and magnet, and MATLAB to graph the field vectors.
