Love is not all

It is not meat not drink

Nor slumber nor a roof against the rain

Nor yet a floating spar to men that sink

And rise
and sink
and rise
and ink again

Love cannot fill the thickened lung with breath

Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone

Yet may a man is making friends with death

Even as I speak for lack of love alone

It well may be that in a difficult hour

Pinned down by pain and moaning for release

Or ragged by want past resolutions power

I might be driven to sell your love for peace

Or trade the memory of this night for food

It well maybe I do not think I would

A true friend is rare indeed

It beams to be a special breed

Yes perfect friends are very few

So lucky I am for having you

Friends are like flowers

Some friends are like flowers that come and go

But best friends stay in your heart forever

The first people to know you

The ones who gave you a name

They gave you love and a place to belong

The root from which you came

Cherish them while you have them

When theyre gone its never the same

Family is like a circle

A family is like a circle

The connection never ends

We have a lot to be thankful for,

The memories through the years

The memories times together

Full of laughter, full of tears

It was a hot summer day. The ant was
out in the forest busy gathering food.
On the trail that led to the anthill, the
ant met a grasshopper. I wonder why
you have to work on a hot day like this,
Ant. the grasshopper said. You
should be relaxing in the shade.

Im saving food for the rainy days, the

ant said.

Th eres plenty of time to save, the

grasshopper said. The rainy days
are months away.

Youll be sorry when the rainy

days are here, and you have
nothing to eat. the ant said. You
are foolish, Ant! the grasshopper said
and went away whistling.

Even before summer ended, the ant

had stored plenty of food in the anthill.

Meanwhile, the grasshopper had done nothing but sing and hops and laze around.
Soon, the rains came. The forest was so drenched it became hard to find food.

The grasshopper could not find anything to eat.

The ant did not have to worry about food.

He had filled the anthill with grains and honey during the summer.

He had enough to eat until the rainy season was over.

The rain continued. The grasshopper was already starving. He wandered through the forest until he
came upon the anthill.

Ant! Ant! Im starving! Give me some of your food ! he begged.

Go away! the ant said from behind the closed door. You laughed at me when I was busy storing
food in the summer. Go and look for your own food in the rain.

The grasshopper felt ashamed at himself that he left at once.

I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying How can this man give us {his} flesh to eat? Jesus
said to them, Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his
blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life,
and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink whoever
eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and
I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This
is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats
this bread will live forever.
A long time ago, there's a king who ruled a rich, prosperous island. He had all the things a
king could ever ask for: the power, the wealth, and all the delicious foods one could only
imagine. The king's name was King Barabas.

King Barabas is a rude king and overweight, indulging himself to all the foods available,
hesitant to share. And his castle is starting to become filthy. He would spend most of his
time sitting and eating with his bare hands. As he eats, he drips food on the floor and smile
mockingly at the people around him, specially his servants.

People in the kingdom would approach with requests for his help, but he would always refuse.
As he neglected his kingdom, people started to complain and starve.

After some time, an old hunched-back woman showed up at the castle begging for food while
the king was eating. The old lady asked for food as she was starving.

"Go away! I don't have anything to give. Can't you see I'm eating?" said the king.

"Please, my king, " said the old woman. "I'm asking for anything, anything you could give me
as I am so hungry. Even a little piece of bread or fruit would do."

"Get out at once! You disgust me," the king belittled the old beggar.

The old woman stood up straight, casting aside her stooped posture. "I've heard much about
you and how your kingdom is suffering." The tone of her voice had changed. It was no longer
the voice of a weak, old woman. "I asked for help, and you shoved me away. You have a lot for
yourself, but when I only asked for a little food, you belittled me. You are selfish. No one
loves you and no one will remember you when you are gone!"
And the beggar disappeared.

After a few more days, the king slowly weakened and became sick. No one knows what's
wrong with him. He got weaker and weaker and lost much weight. He looked older than his
age. Soon after that, the king died. As unfortunate and unexpected as it was, no one cried
and nobody showed up at the king's burial. He died alone.

And where the king was buried, his people noticed a strange plant growing, a plant they had
never seen before. The plant soon grew into a tree, which bore rounded fruits that turned
yellowish when ripe

People also noticed that the fruit seemed to have a crown as it develops, which reminded
them of their selfish, arrogant king. The flesh of the fruit tasted a bit sour, just like the
sour personality of the king towards them.

The people learned to eat the fruit, which helped them with starvation. And because the
tree was from the grave of their King Barabas and it has crown just like their king, they
named the tree after him: barabas, which in time they called bayabas.

The fruit is still called, as to this day, bayabas.

And although the guava may have came from the rude, selfish King Barabas, guava fruit is
one of the fruits that offers many health benefits when consumed, the fruit is a good
source of vitamin C. The leaves are made into tea and treat many diseases as well from a
simple toothache, to treating diarrhea, lowering blood sugar, and many more. And it is used
amongst young boys after their circumcision in the Philippines.

Or maybe it's the way of the late king to make up for the wrongdoings?
Im baaaack!
yelled the Genie. Hows my favorite couple?

Weve missed you, said Aladdin. How was your trip around the world?

Fabulous! the Genie replied. I saw the pyramids in Egypt, went skiing in Sweden, and worked on my
tan in the Caribbean. A nice shade of blue, dont you think ?

A spark flew from the Genies finger, and soon Aladdin and Jasmine were surrounded by gifts from
every country the Genie had visited! The Genie had a special surprise for Aladdin.

A kangaroo? Aladdin gasped as the kangaroo leaped over the palace wall. Id better go catch it!

Be careful! yelled the Genie. Kangaroos know how to box!

Oh, Genie, its good to have you back in Agra bah, said Jasmine. Then she noticed the Genie looked
a little sad. Whats the matter? she asked.

All that traveling was great, but it got a bit lonely, he began. I wish I could find a genie to share
my life with.

Jasmine put her hand on his shoulder. I know how that can feel, she said. RememberI went
through a lot of suitors before I found my one true love.

Jasmine began to tell the Genie her story. I told my father that I wanted to marry for love,
Jasmine explained. But the law stated that I had to marry a prince. No matter what I said, my
father didnt listen to me. He summoned every suitor he could to come and court me.

Sounds like you were pretty popular! the Genie interjected.

Popular? Yes. Happy? No! said Jasmine

At first, I tried to make the best of the situation, Jasmine said. I knew my father was counting
on me. Brand-new, colorful outfits were ordered for me. It was fun in the beginning, trying on one
beautiful outfit after another.

You must have looked gorgeous, dahling! interrupted the Genie Just like a princess!

And then, of course, there were the jewels. It all seemed too good to be truetill I met the
suitors. Jasmine sighed. Soon I realized that the problem wasnt the outfits-it was the suitors!

First there was a Prince Achoo (or thats the name Jasmine remembered).
Princess Jasmine, said the prince. A-a-a-chooo! Its so Achoo! nice to meet you.

Jasmines eyes grew wide. Are you allergic to me? she asked.

Achooo! Oh no, Princess Jasmine! said the prince. Its not just you-it seems that Im allergic to
everything in your palace! I must go!

As the days passed, each suitor seemed worse than the one before. I have a kingdom where all
youd have to worry about is cooking and cleaning, said Prince Macho.

Jasmine was shocked. You want me to do your chores?

Yes, I prefer a wife to do them, said Prince Macho

Oh, really? I prefer a husband who isnt living in the stone age!

Next was Prince Wishy-Washy.

So tell me, began Jasmine, began Jasmine, What do you like to do?

Whatever you like to do, Princess, replied the prince.

Wellwhat do you like to eat? asked Jasmine.

Whatever you eat Princess, he replied.

Jasmine decided to have a little fun. Were having roasted ant pitas with rat hummus for lunch.
How does that sound?

Prince Wishy Washy didnt think it sounded very good!

Then one night, Prince Ali came to Jasmines balcony.

I do not want to see you, she told him. Jasmine was tired of all the suitors. She was tired of
feeling like a prize to be won.

Youre right!, said Prince Ali. You arent just some prize to be won. You should be free to make
your own choice.

Soon after, Jasmine discovered that Prince Ali was Aladdin in disguise, and no laws could keep true
love from blossoming..

Genie? Genie! Whats wrong? Jasmine asked.

The Genie was bawling like a baby. That was the sweetest story Ive ever heard!
Jasmine laughed and became a bit embarrassed. Genie, you can find the same happiness that
Aladdin and I share. I just know your special genie is out there!

Really? asked the Genie.

Just then, Aladdin showed up with the kangaroo. You were right, Genie. That kangaroo has a strong
right punch, he said, holding his arm.

No time to talk, Al. said the Genie, rushing past. Ive got a genie to find-and not a thing to wear!

Whats with him? Aladdin asked Jasmine.

He wants to have what we have, replied Jasmine, kissing Aladdin on the cheek. True Love

Within minutes the Genie reappeared. He did a quick fashion show for Jasmine and Aladdin. Do I go
for the handsome banker book? Or the tuxedo looks? or maybe the preppy, golf-playing look? Or
perhaps the surfer looks? Which one do you think works best? the Genie asked.

You want someone to like you for who you are on the inside, Jasmine said. Just be yourself.

A light bulb went off above the Genies head. Presto-change-o! he said, and all the clothes
vanished. How do you like my newerold look?

It fits perfectly, Jasmine said warmly.

After the Genie had left, Aladdin and Jasmine went on a Magic Carpet ride. Jasmine snuggled close
to Aladdin. Suddenly she saw a mountaintop covered with a blanket and food.

Our own private picnic! said Jasmine. Oh, Aladdin! Im so lucky to have you!

Aladdin shook his head. No, Im the lucky one.

As they enjoyed their sunset picnic, Jasmine thought again about all those suitors s he had to go
through. Because of them, she was grateful for the gift of true love that she had finally found with
Aladdin.

Well, Jasmine, said Aladdin, its been quite a day.

And theres no one Id rather end it with than you, Jasmine told him with a smile.

Some say love, it is a river When the night been too lonely

that drowns the tender reed and the road has been too long

Some say love, it is a razor When you feel that love is only

that leaves your soul to bleed for the lucky and the strong

Some say love, it is a hunger Just remember in the winter

an endless aching need far beneath the bitter snow

I say love, it is a flower Lies the seed that with the suns love

and YOU its only seed in the spring becomes the rose..

Its the heart afraid of breaking

that never learns to dance

Its the dream afraid of waking

that never takes the chance

Its the one, who wont be taken

who cannot seem to give

And the soul afraid of dying

that never learns to live
