After reading Animal Farm, write an essay in which you explore how the

novel reflects the ideas of utopia and the changing ideas of the ideal.
Choose one of the following questions to help support your argument:
-What is the author saying about societies that strive for a given ideal?
-Why are the main characters animals?
-What leads to the downfall of the ideal?
-How do the setting and characters backgrounds affect the story?

First, plan your essay with this outline:

Thesis/claim: The main characters are animals to give false security

Reason 1 - make another world away from humans

Evidence from book
THE ORIGINAL SEVEN COMMANDMENTS

1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.

2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
3. No animal shall wear clothes.
4. No animal shall sleep in a bed.
5. No animal shall drink alcohol.
6. No animal shall kill any other animal.
7. All animals are equal.

This shows that animals are different from humans but still have the same

Reason 2 - more sympathy for animals

Evidence from book
...Mr. Jones went into Willingdon and got so drunk at the Red Lion that he
did not come back till midday on Sunday. The men had milked the cows in
the early morning and then had gone out rabbiting, without bothering to feed
the animals. When Mr. Jones got back he immediately went to sleep on the
drawing-room sofa with the News of the World over his face

Reason 3 - To give a warning

Evidence from book
...They were all slain on the spot. And so the tale of confessions and
executions went on, until there was a pile of corpses lying before Napoleon's
feet and the air was heavy with the smell of blood, which had been unknown
there since the expulsion of Jones

Conclusion - so what?

Now, build your draft.

Add a FULL INTRODUCTION before the thesis. This should include an
attention grabber, the author, background, brief plot summary.
With each body paragraph, state reason first, followed by evidence. Then,
justify and explain your evidence. How does this connect to your
thesis/claim?

Conclusion should address why this matters and provide a new thought for
the reader to consider.

Have you ever thought, Why in aesop's fables does he only use
animals to portray what he has to say? I wonder the same thing about
George Orwells Animal Farm. This is a book where animals take over a farm.
But everything falls just too quickly. Orwell wrote animal farm with the main
characters as animals to give false security.

One reason that shows that why he made the main characters animals
to give false security was that he made another world away from humans.
This is shown in, THE ORIGINAL SEVEN COMMANDMENTS- Whatever goes
upon two legs is an enemy, Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a
friend, No animal shall wear clothes, No animal shall sleep in a bed, No
animal shall drink alcohol, No animal shall kill any other animal, All animals
are equal. This shows that animals are different from humans but still have
the same demeaning qualities.

Another reason that shows that why he made the main characters
animals to give false security was that he wanted to more sympathy for
animals. This is shown in the book when Mr. Jones forgets to feed all the
animals and to milk the cows. ...Mr. Jones went into Willingdon and got so
drunk at the Red Lion that he did not come back till midday on Sunday. The
men had milked the cows in the early morning and then had gone out
rabbiting, without bothering to feed the animals. When Mr. Jones got back he
immediately went to sleep on the drawing-room sofa with the News of the
World over his face This shows the readers that the life for the animals
was tough and that they were usually hungary. This makes the readers
sympathetic towards the animals. It also makes the world of animals
different but almost the relatable to the world of humans, thus giving a false
security of-sorts.

The last reason that shows that why he made the main characters
animals to give false security was that he want end to give a warning. This is
shown in the book when napoleon slaughters all the animals that confess to
false crimes. ...They were all slain on the spot. And so the tale of
confessions and executions went on, until there was a pile of corpses lying
before Napoleon's feet and the air was heavy with the smell of blood, which
had been unknown there since the expulsion of Jones This shows that
Orwell wanted to show the corruption of communism but at the same time,
he wanted to make it alienated from humans, thus dividing a proverbial
fence of-sorts.

In conclusion, from the irrefutable evidence that I have just presented

to you, we can obviously say that the reason that Orwell wrote animal farm
with animals as the main characters was to give false security. This was
proved by the evi\dence that just kept stacking up. So what do you think?
