You Must Be A Big Giver

...God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to
do without) a cheerful (joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving]
(2 Corinthians 9:7 AMP).

A rich man ran to Jesus one day, knelt down before Him and asked, Good
Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? (Mark 10:17). The Lord
told him to sell everything he had, give to the poor and be His disciple. The Bible says,
he (the rich man) was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions
(Mark 10:22). The problem wasnt that he had great possessions nor was it that Jesus
didnt want him, as the Bible did tell us that Jesus loved him (Mark 10:21). He was
bound by his wealth and possessions. He couldnt be the thirteenth disciple because he
couldnt release what he had.
To be a disciple takes one very essential quality: you must be a giver. The disciples of
Jesus were givers. The disciples were also wealthy men, for they were all successful in
their chosen careers before they met Jesus. This was why they were so astonished when
Jesus said, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man
to enter into the kingdom of God (Mark 10:25). However, they werent held bound by
their possessions; they were mega-givers. When you study the lives of the disciples,
youll discover they didnt only give of their substance alone, they also gave their efforts,
talents, kindness, loveeverything. You need to realize that God sees everything you
give to Him. He doesnt look at the outward appearance of things; He looks at the heart.
There are different kinds of givers. There are reluctant givers and cheerful givers; the
latter lavishes his love on the Lord through his giving; the former, however gives in pinches.
Accordingly, the one who gives bountifully from a cheerful and willingly heart, gets
bountifully and the one who gives in pinches gets in pinches.
Every time you give big, Gods vision is implanted in your heart. So, stop giving to
God as though Hes not seeing you. When you have an opportunity to give, be excited
for every opportunity to give is an opportunity to receive. You may receive in the form
of healing, deliverance, abundance or whatever the need in your life is.
