Notes This hat is designed to either knit in a solid for a classic hat, or to use up scraps and have several colors.
Tip- Try jogless stripes when changing colors.

Cast on 48(56,64,72,80,88,96) stitches, using the long tail cast on, with the smaller needle
Join in the round, and be careful to not twist and add your start of round marker.

Brim round: (Knit 2, purl 2) repeat to the end


Repeat the brim round, 6(6,7,8,8,8,8) times total

Change to the larger needle

Round 1: Knit to the end


For the beanie style Repeat round 1, until the hat measure 4(5,5 ,6,6 ,6 ,7) inches.
For the slouch style Repeat round 1, until the hat measure 6(7,7 ,8,8 ,8 ,9) inches.

Decreasing the crown

Round 12: (Knit 1, K2tog) repeat to the end
Round 13: (K2tog) repeat to the end

Finishing
Cut your yarn with a 6 inch tail, with a sewing needle, slip all remaining stitches, and draw close.

How to make a pompom

Wrap yarn around 3 of your fingers about 30-40 times. Tie a piece of yarn around the middle, as tight as you can
Slide the yarn off your fingers

Cut the edges. Fluff your pompom up and sew or tie it onto the top of your hat.
