JIMBOS FUND (formerly known as Hesco Bastion Fund)

This fund was set up in 2008 by generous local businessman, Jimi Heselden, and was named after
his company, Hesco Bastion. Jimi was tragically killed in an accident in 2010 but the fund
continues to support local projects under its new name Jimbos Fund.

Standard Grants Criteria

Grants from 250 to 20,000 will be made to groups meeting the following key criteria:

Projects based in, or supporting people living in:

o Leeds 9 (Burmantofts, Cross Green, East End Park, Gipton, Harehills,
Osmondthorpe, Richmond Hill)

The Fund will support registered charities or community groups with a constitution and a separate

people - your group either needs to be based in Leeds or be directly benefiting individuals and
communities in Leeds. Applications will not be accepted where:
projects have already taken place / applications for retrospective funding
activities would normally be funded from statutory sources e.g. Social Services, local or
central Government, Local Education Authority
projects are primarily for the advancement of religion or politics

Please note, the fund will not accept applications for: sponsorship for events or activities;
advertising in charity or other brochures; support for purely fundraising events

The next deadlines for the receipt of applications are Friday 13th May 2011 and Friday 29th July.
The panel will meet quarterly thereafter. For details of how to apply, please go to

Special Grants Criteria

The Fund is also looking for 2-3 transformational projects that are looking for investment of
more than 20,000. You still need to be meeting the priorities identified above but your project is
likely to be on a larger scale and has the potential for being named after Jimi in some way. We ask
that you send an email / letter with some outline details (no more than 1 page of A4 please)
including: your contact details, outline of the project (what it is, where based, who it will benefit)
and an outline budget. We will then discuss this with you further.

Similarly, the Fund will also consider charities linked with the armed forces, particularly benefiting
soldiers and families engaged in current conflicts in Afghanistan and elsewhere. At this stage we
ask for the same information as above i.e. an email / letter with outline information.
