Sometimes | can’t believe they’re my stories, but they are! Saddia_ | A few years ago, my grandpa gave m his old cine camera. I loved to play around with it and every weekend | shot stupid films of my family. They weren’t very good, but it was fun. Then last year my mum bought me a digital video camera for my birthday. It’s not the best camera, but it’s good enough for us. To be honest, | believe you can make a great movie ith just a mobile phone. Imagination and talent are more important than expensive gear. Magic Lantern’s films, aren't very long - only ten minutes each - but they don’t look amateur. They're quite professional! | usually direct the movies, because I’m always} behind the camera. I'm also quite a bossy guy; | really want to be a film director when | finish school. Kim | Ive had roles in school plays since | as in the first year of high school. ddiq saw me in a school show and jought | was wonderful. We flew into Lima last week, and then got a connecting flight to Cuzco. That's the nearest town to Machu Picchu, Cuzco was amazing. Did you know, it's about 3400 metres above sea level? The funny thing is, the locals here walk and do things slowly all the time, | guess, in general, it's not a good idea to do things quickly in Cuzco. ‘The next day we took the Vistadome train to Machu Picchu. The train ride was spectacular. We could look at the landscape from the viewing windows on the walls and, wait for it, the roof of the train! After being so impressed. with Cuzco and the train ride, | didn’t think | could see anything better. But Machu Picchu was something else! It's not hard to see why it was hidden for hundreds of years before it was rediscovered in 1911 — it definitely isn’t easy to get to, We spent the day walking about the ruins, and basically enjoying its incredible location ~ you can see the Andes from there! ‘The next few days we spent travelling from Peru to Venezuela, which is where rm writing from at the moment. Venezuela is beautiful, too. They're 979 metres high! The view took our breath away. Dad says it’s the most exciting thing he's ever done and I'd have to agree. You look down, and see all the wild water. It makes You fee! that your're the first person who has ever seen it. Amazing! It's actually not easy to see the falls in any other way. They're in the middle of the jungle and they're so high that most of the water tus into mist before it reaches the ground! It's the mist that makes it difficult to get close enough to see the falls from the ground. That's why we did a helicopter tour. We're going to hang around here (Canaima) for another day or so and then, on Friday, we're going to Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), We're going to go on a cruise down the Amazon. Can't wait!
