 It’s an unfortunate phraseology that has become socially
pervasive in just about every aspect of daily conversation.
Why? For some, this means keep it simple so others can
understand. Such suggests how some investigators view their
solvability quotient. Simply stated, some believe all you
have to do is get inside the mind of another person,
particularly the criminal. Really? Have you figured out yet
how your own mind works? And, on top of that, how do you
get inside something that isn’t really there?
So, herein, the cube is used as an illustration to offer a
working conception of the vastness of human thinking. It
includes axial representation of past, present and future
purposes amplified by a time-space configuration. All of
which interacts potentially with an extraordinary
dimensional array. By inclusion, such a symbol is also an
expression of the “energetic exercises in means to an end”
for the sake of satiating individual needs, desires and
cravings. We are capable of expending exceptional amounts
of energy to achieve our objectives. Within the mystical
realm of the cubic framework, or even a mental matrix,
people remain exceptionally creative, devious and evil.
A murder mind matrix mirrors this basic conception. For
a matrix is a mold and a mind is a personal and private shape
for neural actuation. This criticality of cubic configuration is
of course metaphorical in an attempt to imagine the degrees
and depths of human ideation played out in a personal
human drama. Of which, neither rats nor monkeys in a
laboratory can give us complete insight into the expanse of
human thinking. Nor can any speculation about getting
inside mind of a criminal.
Good guesses maybe, then again maybe not. Luck of the
draw through subjective validation to argue in favor of
cognitive bias. And yet, in the midst of all such conjecture,
social discourse applauds the simplicity of constantly
fixating on the easy answers, clever slogans and fascinating
sound bites. Plus the persistent and distracting “Why”
question. That’s a criminological annoyance, “Why” he or
she commit the atrocity? Who knows? You only get the
criminals side of the story. What’s deeper though?

That is, in lieu of the “What” question. Because that
leads to evidence and evidence might be illusive or non-
existent in a provable sense. But wait, that aside,
consider the composite perspective by which this rubric
might apply to problem solving. As said before, we’re
looking at four cornerstones of each of six planes on a
cubic configuration. With all its attendant complexities,
a cube has different aspects.
Once again, in basic terms, it has six sides to the
configuration. And, those planes of reality, if harnessed
properly, could aid the investigator in a more thorough
factual analysis. Likewise, the criminal is just as clever.
Not foolproof but freely chosen inventiveness. Yes,
some can be careless, while others can be very astute
and innovative in their criminal actions.
Think about it. Intuitive decision-making in an
investigation, configured in the framework of a cubic
mental replication, may offer potential for deeper
analytic options. We’re not just looking at a flat surface
to find clues. Instead, the viewpoint of this perspective
is multidimensional as in human thinking processes.
Investigatively we want as much detail as possible.
Every aspect demands analysis. To view a flat surface in
terms of our thinking restricts the dimensional
framework for solvability factors. After all, speculation
skims across the surface of a two dimensional
perception. Yet, another integral piece of the complexity
remains hidden. With faulty information, we may chase
red herrings and miss the real catch of the day.
In other words, all of this to say, maybe we need a
renewed paradigm for critical thinking in the scope of
our investigations. In this regard, one needs to be wary
of quick fixes, easy solutions and trouble-free templates
that lead to spurious notions for specious conclusions.
The mind matrix conforms to a cube-like image where
logical inferences rely on factual applications. None the
less, we do not fail to consider emotional applications of
our mental energy. Emotional and rational components
compete for eventual authenticity in choices.
Whereby, a person indulges in merging, blending or
molding thoughts to quench inherent wants. And, in the
process, learns to juggle or balance between emotional and
rational influences. To this end for the researcher or
investigator, you assist yourself in a directed deduction to
comprehend the totality of the investigative aspects. Not
unlike the law violator, for the criminal, he or she seeks
personal gratification in the sensual aspects of the
criminality. Whereas the investigator seeks satisfaction in
the opposing perspective. To think differently from those
who imagine a relationship to communal constraints,
means one chooses his or her psychic alterations to
achieve a certain goal. In the target, we what we find is the
gain over risks in the situation.
All too frequently, especially in the venue of
“edutainment”, asking “why” misguides the understanding
on a deeper level. It is a diversion, perhaps even irrelevant,
to become obsessed with considering the criminal did the
crime because of his or her drug addiction. Or, for that
issue, to focus on the criminal’s lack of socio-economic
opportunities, poverty, abusive family relationships and so
on. Instead, what was it about the crime itself that suggests
the causality of the perpetration? We look at the
distortions in the thinking processes through
magnification of the factors that instigate anti-social
behaviors. Significant errors in the mental matrix include
type casting the criminal as a “victim”, as well as the
rationalization and justification of their heinous acts. (2)
Given an exponential character to our thinking, using
the cubic model of transformation, we could imagine
placing a key question for our inquiry on each side. Again,
we’re talking imagery that has six “faces”. Saying that
means, for instance, the “5WH” has six components, by
which each side of the cube becomes an interrogatory.
But, it has dual sided implications. One turned out and one
turned in. From there, each right angle of the square (four
of them per square, right?), on each side or face of the
cube, encompasses the stretch of our investigative analysis
questions, with forensic examinations as well.

We’d pursue multiple lines of inquiry based on forensic
applications across the landscape of key questions. For
instance, one face of the cubic mind represents “Who”, as in
who’s involved in the post-mortem analysis? Around that,
the perimeter encompasses information, interviews,
interrogations and instrumentations. Before an incident
occurred, the perpetrator’s thinking already fabricated the
premeditated malice aforethought with intent.
He or she, the criminal, knows who’s involved and who has
the most to lose by the gambit in play. Well, to some extent,
whether explicit or conjecture, specific or general, the
subjects of the inquiry have notions about the “Who” in
question. Of course, the suspect knows who’s linked to the
continuum of cause and effect. So, who do you get
information from? Answer is everyone you can possibly
think of. Who said what to whom? This connects a diagonal
across the cube to the “What” question. And, who is subject
to interviews and interrogations? Based who provided
information does that stand up to the test of the facts against
the information provided? Key questions in the “5WH” are
interrelated probabilities. For which, the perpetrator has a
head start on the investigation at hand.
At the four corners, we superimpose four aspects for our
a inquiry. By methodical scope, sequence and selection, this
includes the forensic applications of “4-I”, or information,
interviews, interrogations and instrumentations. Our
metaphorical formula changes as the cube evolves or
revolves, depending on your perception. Imaginatively, the
4-I + (5WH) x 2 could translate into 4-I + (5WH) x 6 x 2.
Yet, hold on. Up to this point, we’re only discussing the
psycho-sexual energy that powers the planes of thought in
this squared configuration. To that extent, inference has
focused around twelve planes, sides or faces. What about all
the space within the expanse of side to side, diagonally and
within the cubic configuration?
