1. A reinforced concrete beam of rectangular section has the cross


section300x500. 4 numbers of 20mm diameter steel bars is provided as

are used.Determine the stresses induced in the top compression fibre of the
concrete and tension steel when it is subjected to a moment of

1.Design a simply supported one way slab of inside dimensions 3mx8m. It Is


subjected to a live load of 3KM/m2. Consider concrete of grade M20 and steel of
grade Fe415. Width of support = 230mm.

2.Design a simply supported slab supported on masonary walls to the following


requirements.

Check span=3.50m

Live load=3KN/m2

M20 &Fe415 combinations are used

Thickness of masonary walls=230mm

3.Analyze a T-beam of section 300mm width of web,1500mm width of


flange,100mm thickness of flange and 500mm effective depth.Determine moment
of resistance of a beam.It is reinforced with 4-25mm.consider concrete of grade
M20 & steel of grade Fe415 are used.

4.Calculate the amount of reinforcement required in a beam of rectangular section


of width 300mm and effective depth 500mm to resist a factored moment of

1. Design torsional reinforcement in a rectangular beam section,350mm wide


and 750 mm deep,subjected to an ultimate twisting moment of
140KNm,combined with ultimate bending moment of 200KNm and an
ultimate shear force of 110KN.Assume M25 grade concrete and Fe415 steel
and mild exposure condition.

1.Design a footing for 250mm thick masonary wall which supports a load of

200KN/m at service state for the following data:

Safe bearing capacity of soil = 150KN/m2

Angle of repose of soil = 30

Unit weight of soil = 20KN/m3


2.Design a footing for a rectangular column 300x 450mm carrying an axial

factored load of 1500KN.The safe bearing capacity of the soil is 120KN/ m 2.

Use also concrete and Fe415 steel

3. A rectangular column of size 300mmx450mm transmits a limit state.Load of


600KN at an eccentricity of 150mm about the major axis.Design a suitable
isolated footing for the column by the limit state concept.Safe capacity of
soil is 200KN/ m2.Use M30 concrete and Fe415 steel.

4. Design a combined footing for the two columns at a multistorey


building.The column of size 400mm x 400mm transmits a working load of
