The Circus Collective of San Diego fuses contemporary circus with a social
consciousness in its new project which aims to raise awareness for displaced
refugee by telling their stories through movement and poetry. Archimedes
principles of displacement, buoyancy, and specific gravity form a metaphorical
framework to explore how people who are forced out of their homeland overcome
obstacles, adapt, and negotiate their identity.
Raw emotion, physicality, live original music, and authentic storytelling weave a
compelling piece that celebrates courage, resilience, and our shared humanity. The
performance includes the use of acrobatics, aerial rope, silks, and lyra, cyr wheel
and spoken word by refugee poets. An audience interactive talk-back following
the show gives the opportunity to engage with artists, poets, and musicians.
Appropriate for all ages.
