Walk-through Exercise
PEOPLESOFT v8.9 SECURITY WALK-THROUGH

1. Adding/Viewing a New User ID


Review / Q&A: Review that specific PeopleSoft delivered roles that are going to be used in
defining these user profiles. For this class we should become familiar with the following roles.

Role: Accounts Payable Entry


Role: Accounts Payable Manager

Hands-on Exercise: Examine the specific permission lists associated with the roles above.

Hands-on Exercise: Examine the specific User IDs that we developed for this class. Compare
and contrast these against User ID: VP1, which has full access.

Note: Make sure you validate User Preferences have been properly setup for each User ID. Note
differences that each User ID has in Procurement Options for Vouchering and Vendors.

AP Entry (User ID: SPEARMC_AP1 / Password: AP1)


AP Manager (User ID: SPEARMC_AP2 / Password: AP2)

Navigation: PeopleTools Security User Profiles User Profiles


1. Click on the Add a New Value tab.

2. Enter a User ID. Use the SPEARMC_ prefix. Use your three initials for the suffix.
The User ID can be up to 30 characters.
Hint: User IDs are often the same as the network ID for LDAP (or other single sign-
on) purposes.

3. Click Add.

4. On the General tab, enter all required information.


Click on the dropdown menu to choose a Symbolic ID. Symbolic IDs are used for
granting access at the database level. Example: FSCMAPP

Enter SPEARMC as a password

Enter values for each of the other fields as shown below.

5. Click on the ID tab.

6. ID Type click the dropdown arrow and select None.

7. Enter a User Description. Your name is fine.

8. Click the Roles tab. Depending on your role responsibilities, add each of the roles below.
Decide among the class who will be AP Entry or AP Manager.

9. On the Roles page, attach all roles that the User ID can have access to.
Click the lookup button to view a list of roles.
The Role Description will be populated automatically when a role is selected.
Click the plus sign at the end of the row to add more roles to the User ID.
Along with the Accounts Payable make sure to enter each of the others as well.

10. Click Save to save the new User ID.
