Introduction

1-1

1 Introduction
The MAK 3002 system consists of a number of separate components which
communicate with each other over a serial field bus (P-NET).
The basic operating procedures for the controllers can be found in the Oper-
ating Instructions manual.
nur
This manual describes how to configure the system with the software ver-
sion MAK 1.43/ MAK 2.43 .
Several program options are not available with the 1-MB-version of the MAK
3002-software (MAK 1.xx), but exclusively with the 2-MB-version (MAK
2.xx). In the according text you are hinted to that by the following symbol:

2 Safety precautions
The operator of the system is responsible for compliance with all the regula-
tions that apply to the storage, transportation and transshipment (load-
ing/unloading) of milk.

Regulations and requirements lose none of their validity when the system is
operated using MAK units.

MAK units are built with due consideration to the regulations currently in
force and have left the factory in perfect condition. These units must be in-
stalled and maintained by qualified technical personnel.

Make sure that the data and operating conditions specified by the manu-
facturer (BARTEC) are observed.

Following the instructions for operating and servicing the units.

If you discover any signs of damage or destruction to any parts of the

system or if safe operation of the system cannot be guaranteed for any
other reason, do not start up the system or, if already in operation, shut
down the system immediately. Notify your local BARTEC service repre-
sentative.

You should also contact our service specialists if you discover any faults
or defects during operation or if you have cause to doubt whether the
units are working properly.

Disclaimer of liability BARTEC GmbH and its vicarious agents only assume liability in the case of
deliberate acts or gross negligence. The extent of liability in such a case is
limited to the value of the order placed with BARTEC GmbH.
BARTEC accepts no liability for any damage resulting from non-observance
of the safety regulations or from non-compliance with the operating instruc-
tions or operating conditions. Secondary damage is excluded from the liabil-
ity.

3 Configuration
All the settings preferred for running the control software and necessary for
the specific system configuration are made by means of the configuration
menus. All the configuration data is saved automatically when you exit the
configuration function.

The control software of the MAK 3002 system in the controller is modular
and hierarchical in structure. The various software modules are distributed
over three levels, each level possessing one key module (shown in the dia-
gram below on a grey background). A software module can be activated only
if the corresponding key module is active. Software modules of the same
level can be combined.
For users, this means that some of the individual menu items or entire
menus described in this manual may not be shown on their systems.
The key modules are accessed and activated in the system config menu.

Basic functions

Most of the settings possible can be made after entering passwords which
permit access to specific configuration levels (see 3.1).
All data subject to statutory calibration and all data of relevance to running
the program can be changed only when the seal switch (calibration switch) is
actuated. The seal switch has to be actuated before you call up configura-
tion!
The seal switch is located in the bottom section of the controller and is
equipped with a seal pin secured with a lead seal. The lead seal has to be
broken and the seal pin removed in order to actuate the seal switch. You
must then turn the seal switch 90 anticlockwise. When the seal switch is ac-
tuated, a flashing E appears in the basic menu on the display.

MAK 3002 Configuration MAK 1.43/ MAK 2.43 SAK 970916 (10.12.03)
Configuration

3-2

If you want to change data subject to statutory calibration, the seal switch
(calibration switch) has to be actuated before you call up configuration.
Whenever the seal switch is actuated, this necessitates compulsory re-
calibration by an official office, for which a charge will be made.

Due to differences between software releases and/or configurations, the dis-

plays illustrated below may differ slightly from the displays on your system.
An overview of the structure of the configuration menu together with the ap-
propriate configuration level in each particular case can be found in chapter
4.
A configuration level always includes access to the next lower configuration
levels.

To call up configuration, press the [menu] softkey in the main menu. The
menu special functions will appear. The number of displayed submenus
depends on the configuration of the system.

Use the softkey [select_field] to choose the menu configuration and press
[OK]. You can also press just key [1] for direct choose. The configuration
main menu appears.

3-3

3.1 Password input

The software configuration function is protected by several passwords. The

various passwords enable you to access different configuration levels.
The following configuration menus can be accessed without having to enter
a password:
contrast setting within the limits configured (contr.-config.)
parameter output (param. output)

3.1.1 Driver password

The driver password permits access to configuration level 1.
This is where you can change the system time and the language, selecting
from the controller parameters available. It is not possible to change the date
under the driver password.
The driver password is the sum of the day, month and hour (as shown in the
display).

Driver password = day + month +hour

Example Date: 19. 08. 2003, 14:00 h

Driver password = 19 + 8 + 14 = 41

3.1.2 User password

The user password is the vehicle fleet manager's password. It is a code con-
sisting of a maximum of three digits, which the fleet manager can define him-
or herself. The user password permits access to configuration level 2. This is
where configuration data that is not subject to statutory calibration, such as
the activation and deactivation of various options and hardware modules,
can be changed.

User password = driver password x (code + 1) + code

Example Driver password = 41, code = 120

User password = 41 x 121 + 120 = 5081

The default code = 0. This means the user password is the same as the
driver password.

MAK 3002 Configuration MAK 1.43/ MAK 2.43 SAK 970916 (10.12.03)
Password input

3-4
When the password is entered, the display shows the configuration level to
which access is permitted.

If the password entry fails (no level is displayed), it could be the case that
the system time does not match up with the actual time of day. If so, use the
date and time shown on the display to calculate the password.

3.1.2.1 Changing the user password

Entering the user password (the default password is identical with the driver
password) activates the [change_user-pw] softkey. Press this softkey if you
want to change the code.

When you are prompted to enter the old PW, first enter the old code (de-
fault = 0) and confirm it. You will then be prompted to enter the new code
(new PW). Once you have entered and confirmed the new code, you will
be prompted to enter it again and to confirm it again.

3.1.2.2 Deleting the user password

If it is no longer possible to access the user level because you have forgot-
ten the code, you can delete the code after entering the service password.
The user code is then reset to its original default value (= 0).
At service password level you can only reset the code (= 0) but not change it
to a different code.

3-5

3.1.3 Service password

The service password permits access to all configuration options that are not
subject to statutory calibration (configuration level 3).
The service password is formed and changed periodically in accordance
with a special mode. The service password is revealed only to authorized
service personnel.

Since the controller with numeric keypad has no letter keys, you have to en-
ter letters by means of their ASCII codes.

The top two softkeys are dual-function keys: in normal use, they move the
cursor to the left or the right respectively (represented in the display by the <
and > symbols to the left of the two softkeys).
The second function is depicted on the right-hand side of the softkeys (ASCII
and ABC). To use the second function, press the Shift key ([^]) at the same
time as you press the softkey.

To enter a letter, press the ASCII softkey ([^] + [<:_ASCII]) and enter the
ASCII code for the required character. Then move the cursor to the next po-
sition ([>:_ABC] softkey) and enter the next character in the same way.

The following table lists the ASCII codes of the most important characters.

3.1.4 Seal switch

All the configuration options are active (configuration level 4) when the seal
switch is actuated. Data subject to statutory calibration can be changed only
when the seal switch is actuated.
You can call up the configuration menus to check the configuration data re-
cord without having to enter the password. It is not possible, however, to
make any changes in this case.

3.2 Controller configuration

The controller configuration settings affect readouts and system-internal rou-

tines.

3.2.1 Contrast

This menu enables you to change the contrast of the LC display.

Softkeys [+] and [-] can be used to adjust the contrast of the display within
fixed limits without having to enter a password first. If you have not entered a
password, softkey [0] appears instead of the [actual_Contr.] softkey. Use
softkey [0] to set the contrast to its lower limit.

Setting the limits of the contrast range

The limits within which the contrast range can be adjusted without (e.g. the
driver) entering a password can be changed in configuration level 2 (user
password).
When you press the softkey [actual_contr.], the softkey [Reset_with_-] is
displayed. You can then use softkey [-] to reset the contrast to its basic set-
ting.
The top softkey is now labelled [upper_limit]. You can now set the upper limit
of the contract range using softkeys [+] and [-]. The setting has to be con-
firmed with softkey [upper_limit]. The top softkey is then labelled
[lower_limit]. You can now set the lower limit of the contrast range in the
same way as described above. After confirming the setting with softkey
[lower_limit], the top softkey is once again labelled [actual_Contr.]. Before
you exit the menu, set the contrast so that the display is clear and easy to
read

3.2.4 Language selection

If the software offers a number of different language settings, you can set
the language you want to use on the display and in printouts. This is done on
driver password level.

Select the language of your choice by using the [select_field] softkey and
then press [OK] or press just the respective numeric key. The language will
be switched at once.
To exit the menu select the field 0: END and press [OK] or press just the
numeric key [0].

3.2.5 Erase EEPROMs

If errors arise while operating the system, which cannot be remedied by

changing the configuration, you have the option of erasing the configuration
data saved in the various EEPROMs. This action resets the entire configura-
tion to the default settings, and all system components are marked as deac-
tivated.

If possible you should print the current parameter settings before erasing the
EEPROMs (see 3.6). This will make easier to enter the parameters again.

After you have selected the EEPROM you want to erase (delete), the system
will prompt you to confirm that you want to erase this EEPROM before it
does so.
Once you have erased all the EEPROMs you want to erase, you have to re-
configure the system.

Contents of the EEPROMs:

3.2.6 EEPROM menu

This menu enables you to copy configuration data from and to data storage
cassettes (solid state memory (SSM) cartridges), to delete data on data
storage cassettes and to compare configuration data on data storage cas-
settes with those in the EEPROM of the controller. A cartridge-station must
be connected and configured (see 3.5.10).

The vehicle fleet manager password (user password) only permits you to
write to data storage cassettes and to make deletions and comparisons.
Configuration data can only be read from a cassette when the seal switch is
actuated, because this involves the data in the controller EEPROM being
overwritten.

Once you have opened the EEPROM menu, press the [select] softkey a
number of times to select the operation you want to perform: read (only
when seal switch is actuated), write, clear or compare.

3.4.3.3 Pump configuration

These settings are necessary only with automatic sampling branch control
by means of preset quantities or with a sensor-controlled ULTRASAMPLER.

pump rate
low Average pumping (suction) rate for collection quantities that
are smaller than the quantity entered under threshold
low/med.

medium Average pumping rate for collection quantities that lie between
low/med and med/high.

high Average pumping rate for collection quantities that lie above
med/high.

threshold
The pumping rate to match the expected or preset quantity of milk is relayed
to the ULTRASAMPLER.
If branch sampling with automatic branch selction via preset quantity is con-
figured (see 3.4.4; param.config. /sampling/ branch pr.: ON) the branch will
be selected automatcally.
The configured threshold-values will also be used to select the correction
factor for calming with ULTRASAMPLER type 6870 up from ULTRASAM-
PLER-program version 2.32 (s. 3.5.8.1).

low/med With preset quantities below this value, the low pumping rate
is relayed to the ULTRASAMPLER; with other quantities, the
medium rate is relayed. The throttle valve is actuated when
the preset quantity is below this value.
branch sampling: when the preset quantity is lower than this
value: big branch, higher (till threshold med/high) : medium
branch.

med/high With preset quantities above this value, the high pumping
rate is relayed to the ULTRASAMPLER; with other quantities,
the medium rate is relayed.
branch sampling: when the preset quantity is higher than this
value: small branch.

3.4.7.2 Formatting

The drive used for long-term storage of the data can be formatted only when
the seal switch is activated.

RAM-Drive There are two options available for formatting the data carriers: Quick-
Format and Format.
The RAM drive is always formatted in TDL format.

Quick-Format is only executed when the RAM drive has already been for-
matted once with Format. Quick-Format corresponds to the DOS com-
mand del *.*. This means that all the files and the file allocation table (FAT)
are deleted. If you want to delete the saved files in order to regain full stor-
age capacity, you can do so using Quick-Format.
If the data carrier contains data that is corrupt, you can use Format to
completely reformat the carrier.

P-NET-HLK The format of the data storage cassette (HLK in German; = SSM cartridge)
depends on the setting made in the configuration.
PRF-format - ON : the cassette will be formatted in PRF format.
PRF-format - OFF: the cassette will be formatted in TDL format.

same way as formatting of the RAM drive.

Formatting results in all the data saved on the data carrier being lost. Before

3.4.8 Quantity memory

When the quantity memory option is activated (system config. / data capture
/ qty-memry: ON), you can specify the degree in % to which the quantity of
milk just collected is used in calculating the new preset quantity. The quan-
tity collected is that quantity of milk recorded from a supplier, possibly also in
the course of several sub-collections. If a further collection follows from the
same supplier within 2 hours of the last collection, the new collection is
added to the quantity already collected. When collecting sub-quantities, the
quantity still remaining to make up the total preset quantity is regarded as
the preset quantity.

teach in The teach-in factor specifies the degree in % to which the

quantity of milk just collected is used to calculate the new pre-
set quantity.

Example Teach-in factor 0%: The quantity collected is not used to calculate the new
preset quantity.
Previous preset quantity: 100 l
Quantity collected: 120 l
New preset quantity: 100 l

Teach-in factor 50% The quantity collected is used to a degree of 50% to

calculate the new preset quantity.
Previous preset quantity: 100 l
Quantity collected: 120 l
New preset quantity: 110 l

Teach-in factor 100% The quantity collected is used to a degree of 100% to

calculate the new preset quantity.

3.4.9 Milk separation

act. separ. ON Milk separation is performed actively, i.e. selection of

the compartments is performed by the controller.

empty a.el. ON If there is a chanche of milk quality at an air-eliminator

this air-eliminator will be made empty at the beginning
of a collection.

down quant (only when empty a.el. is ON)

To minimize spreading the air-eliminator can be made
empty completely or partly.
0 l the air-eliminator will completely made empty,
>0 l the level of the air-eliminator will be de-
creased by the entered quantity.

Decreasing ON The quality of the milk being collected can be changed

by the driver to be poorer (bad). The system then
suggests this milk is pumped into the compartment
with the corresponding quality.
It is also possible to add milk of better quality to a
compartment with poorer quality milk, without 'de-
creasing' its quality beforehand (e.g. if there is no
more capacity available in another compartment).

Increasing ON The quality of the milk can be changed by the driver to

be better (good). The system then suggests this milk
is pumped into the compartment with the correspond-
ing quality.
It is also possible to add milk of poorer quality to a
compartment with better quality milk (e.g. if there is no
more capacity available in another compartment). If
milk of poorer quality is added to a compartment con-
taining higher quality milk, the quality of that com-
partment will be decreased to the quality of the current
collection for the rest of the tour.

Comp. auto (when act. separ is ON) If a compartment is detected as full

the collection will automatically switched to another compart-
ment that is available for the current collection. The collection
will not be interruptet.

pul. length (when act. separ is ON); this option defines the duration of
the pulse (0...9.9 s) which is emitted at pump start-up when a
switchover of compartments is to be expected (log. output 27)
(0 = continuous signal until switchover).

swtch dely (when act. separ is ON); switchover delay for compartment
switchover. Once a compartment has been closed, the other
compartment is opened after the delay specified here. This
enables, e.g., the closing and opening times of valves to be
taken into account.

int. cab. no Number of measuring chambers (intake cabins) (1 or 2).

air elimin Number of air eliminators installed (1 or 2) with one measuring

chamber.

comp. contct (when act. separ is ON); Number of compartment inlets (1 or

2) with two measuring chambers or with one measuring
chamber with two air eliminators.

Once you have confirmed the settings, you have to assign the milk quality
grades to the tank compartments configured.

The display shows those tank compartments for which a tank compartment
capacity > 0 has been configured (see 3.4.3.5).

The example above contains the following assignments:

3.5 Peripherals

These menus are used to select and configure all the hardware modules
used in the system.

When the configuration of the hardware modules is called up for the first
time or after modules have been changed, the respective module must be
activated first. The basic procedure to be followed is explained below using
the volume counter as an example. The other modules are activated in the
same way.

Select the field for the respective module and press [OK].

Switch on the module (key [1]).

A window appears informing you that the module is not activated and that
you have to enter the serial number.

Enter the serial number (=A-No.) and confirm it. The extension UE is
added automatically. If the serial number you have entered is correct, a
message appears informing you that the module has been activated.
