I NTERNATIONAL S CHOLARSHIPS

Our most important aim is to encourage excellent students to choose to study at


Swansea University. All our scholarship holders are chosen for their academic and
personal excellence and their potential contribution to our international community
at Swansea University.

We use the information you have written on your scholarship application form to
review your application together with copies of your transcripts.

Secondly, we encourage students from all over the world to study here and to build
a truly international community in all our subjects of study. We believe that the
vibrant mix of nationalities and cultures on our campus greatly enriches our
learning and teaching.

H OW DO I APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP ?


You will need to apply for your course at Swansea University before you
can apply for a scholarship. Your completed application form must be
submitted and received by the Admissions Office by the scholarship
deadline.

Once you have submitted your application for your course you will receive a
Swansea University student ID number (6 digit number), which is needed
for your scholarship application.

Any application forms without a student ID will be sent back to you and you will be
requested to resubmit your application when you have applied for a course.

Make sure that the email you enter is one which you check regularly as we will use
this for correspondence.

Enter your student ID number (6 digit number) this is required! Your application
will be immediately declined and returned to you until you have received an ID
number by applying for a course.

Y O U R ACA D E M I C A N D PE R S ON A L PR O F I LE :
Write a short, personal statement (up to 1000 words) outlining how you would
contribute to, and benefit from, your chosen course at Swansea University.

This statement must explain the various ways in which you will use your skills,
attributes and personality to contribute positively to the experience of your fellow
students and to the development of your chosen programme.
You should indicate how you will contribute towards promoting your programme,
during your studies and after graduation, as an advocate of the university, the
faculty and

your specific programme.

You can tell us about:

excellence in extra-curricular areas such as in sport, music or other interests


or your wider contribution to society through voluntary work

how you think you can contribute to the university community at Swansea
and your experience of different cultures, languages, countries and
communities

your future career goals and your leadership potential

your life experience such as overcoming adversity or challenges in your life

Remember, you have already attached your transcripts to your scholarship


application, so it is essential here to extract and highlight the key information
about yourself. It is also your chance to explain why you think you are a good
candidate for a scholarship and how you think the scholarship would assist you in
achieving your goals.
