UNIT 8 Task 3 and 4

Task 3: Demonstrate the safe set up and operation of a DJ rig and a range of its functions and features as
part of an audition video. (PMD 2)

Task 4: Also as part of your audition video you are to perform a 5 10 minute DJ set aimed at a specific
target audience or event. You will need to plan and prepare a set list that is suitable to the event and to the
audience. This means you will need to understand about music genres and what music tracks work well
together. You should use a suitable range of DJ techniques during your performance, it is important that
you communicate with the audience and structure your set well. (PMD 4)

How the activity meets the requirements of the assessment and grading criteria
[See video evidence] Marvelia demonstrated the proper setup of the DJ equipment during a class on 28-
Nov-16. She safely and correctly connected all components and effectively narrated the process. She also
demonstrated many of the features available on the Pioneer DDJ-SB and demonstrated a limited range of
techniques.

[See video evidence] Ashley-Ann performed her DJ Set on 18-Nov-16 as part of a showcase for a small
audience of students. Her Soul Train Dance Party set list current hits from the soca genres. She utilized a
limited range of DJ techniques such as crossfading, scratching and cuing. She communicated with her
audience by making eye-contact, moving to the music and calling out on the mic.
