The position of Director of Diversity established in 2000 has evolved in Assistant Head of School as of 2013. This
postion reports to the Head, supervises the academic admin and oversees day-to-day operations of the school.
The individual in this job came to Gordon in 2008 in the Director of Diversity role. The change in title reflects our
concern that director of diversity jobs are "dead end" jobs for professionals of color and that Asst. Head more
accurately describes the role of this position in our school. The position is also a natural stepping stone to
headship.
