Section A. Step By Step Installation Of Field Area
Jn the Instaation of an access Moor, there are certain eller thal should be followed. These are listed in the general
btder of sequence,
STEP 1. Check the room cimensions and configuration against approved drawings. Using @ bullier’s transit or laser,

STEP 3. Having esiablished the proper starling point, lay out two chalk lines al right angles to make sure the room is
equate. See figure 1 for exact procedure. Chak lines must be used as conifol Ines for installing the access Noor. The
reason for laying chalk lines for instaling the access floor. The reason for laying chalk lines rather than Just measuring
‘rom the walls Is that the walls are not always square. The chalk ine system gives a square reference pant Ge caretul to
keep the access floor square at all times dunng installation,
NOTE: When starting the installation in the corner of 2 room, sitetch 2 dry line for line “B" before laying down cha
(Check the distance from "S" line and the "A" chalk Ine (o the walls. Ifthe distance 1o the walls Is over 24 Inches at any
point, move the entire line closer to the wall so that the greatest distance Is 24 inches or less (See figure 1.)*

sure to start at the approved starting point. (See figure 2.)
STEP 5, Using a laser or trans. shootin @ pedestal assembly tothe proper FFH every 8 or 10 feetin both directions
(Gepending on the lengtn of your levelng bar.) By spanning two pedestals at proper FFH wt the leveling bar, adjust all
the pedestals in between to the bottom surface of ine bar. As you adjust each pedestal assembly, center i on the tvo-
foot marks permanently marked on the bar.STEP 6. Glue each pedestal base in the spread area to the subfloor. Using a spatula type device, tit up base plate
\whout changing ts location and apply adhesive to bottom of base plate
[NOTE: Wen using fasteners to anchor pedestal bases, each base should be glued and stringers Installed (it part ot
system) Detore istaling anchors. The type of Tasteners usea may also requrre that panels be istaled for later removal
‘ang installation of fasteners. This ensures pedestal iocaton and plumoness when anchored. Caution should be taken to
Insure that an adequate amount of adhesive \s used. especialy if project spectcation require spectic overtumn
‘movements on base plate
STEP 7_|f stingers are a part of the system, bolt them to the pedestal heads beginning at the starting pointSTEP 8. Beginning again atthe start point, lay four rows of panels along the longest wall Check to see that you are
staying on contol nes, and that pane's do not rock (See figure 3 )

STEP 8. I an panel rocks diagonal when places in the system, tun one quarter (90*) turn and check & again. If the
panel continues to rock wen rotated, some debris may be between the panel bottom and the pedestal head or stinger.
[Also check to make sure pedestal isnot tite, stingers are property seated and that panel edges are tush. ithe pane!
Sill rocks, set aside to be used as perimeter cut panel. The pecestals should not ne adjusted unless three of Tour
panels supported on & are rocking. At his point, make a minor elevation adjustment o the pedestal‘STEP 10, Aer tying the fst four rows of panels along the long wall. begin again atthe starting point an lay four rows of
panels perpendicular to the fst rows. Fol the same previous steps (6 through 8) for lying panels and be sure to
follow the contol ines If you do not stay on the conto ines, the oor wil net be square and your grid lines wil nol be
‘STEP 12. Aer insialing the ist section of AF. only one chalked contro ine along the long wall needs to be used forthe
remainder of the floor The nial section of floor normally dictates the squareness and location of the rest of the
floor. However, itis possible in a long room to allow a curve to develop in small increments in the grid. Therefore, a dry
line should be kept stretched along the short wall until at least a four-panel-wide section ofthe floor is installed the entre
engin o te room.
In Setting ins dry tne, secure ane ene atthe starting point an the ged ne between the Tust twa panels Ralse the tne

NOTE: If oling materials, equipment of gang boxes across insialed A/F, then 1/4-inch tempered masonite or 1/24nch
plywood should De used as pathways to avold any damage to tne top surtace of ie AF panels
