Re: Title IX Investigator

February 21, 2017

Good Afternoon,

Im writing to show my interest in the open Title IX Investigator position at your institution. As you
will note in my resume, I have an extensive amount of experience in higher education. In my current position
at Northern Arizona University (NAU) I serve as co-investigator to all Title IX cases involving students and
have successfully completed over 10 investigation reports under the supplemental procedures for cases
involving sexual or gender based discrimination. My contributions to the development and maintenance of
Title IX communications has streamlined case management and processing to ensure compliance with the
U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights as well as local and state requirements specific to
complaint and grievance procedures. I currently assist with the evaluation of incoming reports to determine
the Universitys need to respond in order to continue to support a safe working and learning environment.
Prior to serving as one of two Title IX Investigators at an institution of over 20,000 students, I was a hearing
officer for non-Title related cases. Independently, I have investigated and adjudicated cases under the NAU
Student Code of Conduct and Student Disciplinary Procedures.

In past positions at NAU, I have been required to understand multiple department policies and
procedures as they relate to academics, finances, registration, housing, and dining. This will serve me well as a
Title IX Investigator as I will be required to evaluate remedies and understand how they can impact a
students experience and situation. My work with Victim Witness Services of Coconino County has
contributed to a compassionate and trauma informed approach when working with victims of domestic
violence and sexual assault. As a Title IX Investigator, this will assist with evaluating and assessing credibility
of all parties.

My education in social sciences at NAU has provided me with critical and analytical skills, as well as
the ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds. While serving in the U.S.
Army, I worked diligently to produce precise and detailed intelligence reports that were vital to strategic
planning. I also maintained a federal Top Secret Security Clearance for five years; this indicates that I have
successfully passed extensive background checks and have maintained a high level of integrity both
professionally and personally.

This opportunity can provide a rich experience for me and for those within the department. My
aspiration to work in higher education grows more each day. I recognize the value of this position and the vital
role it plays in the continuing national dialogue of how college campuses are responding to Title IX
complaints. I want to thank you for reviewing my resume and considering my qualifications as an applicant. I
hope to hear from you soon to further discuss this position, as well as my qualifications. Please feel free to
contact me anytime via phone or email. Thank you again for your time.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Largent
