St. Joseph Health System Orange County Has a Project Assistant Internship position (unpaid) they are looking to fill.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Project Assistant supports implementation of computerized provider order entry

(CPOE), physician documentation, and related processes within the clinical information
system throughout Mission Hospital.
Key support responsibilities for the project assistant include:

• Project management assistance – Maintain and update project plans that have
been developed by Project Manager for CPOE, PDOC, Desktop and related
components of physician documentation initiative; document and compile
workflows, timelines and processes in MS Visio; assist with and/or conduct
end-user surveys and studies; maintain project Sharepoint site
• Support weekly and monthly project reporting – Assemble weekly status reports
from project manager on “dashboard” for dissemination out to stakeholder groups
and teams; assemble and collate data, metrics and data into distributable form,
including extracting and disseminating reporting study results, workflow
assessments, gap analyses, etc.
• Project communications – Develop communications to internal and external
audience related to initiative progress, status and results; work with marketing, PR
and communication teams to disseminate pertinent project communications; help
develop articles for newsletters and creating newsletter for project
• Project administration – File management and coordinating meeting schedules
• Meeting support – Documentation ( agendas and minutes) and logistics
(securing/verifying rooms and locations)
Minimum requirements
IT experience required (preference given to healthcare information technology

background). Must be pro-active, adaptable, and able to work within a team. Must have
strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Must be a self starter and
quick learner. Must be able to set priorities and be self-driven to meet delivery
targets. Must be able to work well with a variety of personalities with constantly changing
priorities. Must be able to interface with both clinical and nonclinical, external and
internal, Ministry and System team members, including those at a senior level. Hospital
experience preferred.

Interns will need to make a 6 to 9 month commitment and volunteer 12 – 15 hours per
week. Each intern will be assigned to a “project,” or departmental program. Intern
assignments in the past have included updating policy and procedure manuals, assistance
with program development, training manuals, compiling reports, patient satisfaction
projects and other various assignments.
Interns will initially be screened through Volunteer Services and then referred to
department managers for interview and final selection. They have received overwhelming
positive feedback regarding the interns, with the interns being happy to be gaining
experience in a health-care setting.
